    That makes a lot of sense.  I can imagine PvP servers giving combatants horse spawn eggs.  Voted.

    I concur. especially on changing how horseback riding works. They should work like boats. riding them into combat is annoying as it is now.

    I voted on this because there is a lot of supporting details to this idea. It makes sense and it would most definitely get a good amount of votes for this idea.

    Another weapon horsemen would use would be lances. It could be a powerful frontal, single targeted attack weapon for horsemen.

    Horses are mobs that were amazing when first added, but have lost their luster with the addition of the elytra, the best free-form transportation. Horses need a new niche, namely combat.
    Controls: Horses will have the same controls as boats, you can move your head freely. Shift+Space will allow you to jump to a maximum of 3 blocks in the air. Shields are disabled on horses, however. An alternative might be to allow legitimate weapon dual wielding.
    Additions: Horses now have more slots. You can add a lead, allowing you to lead a llama caravan, or other horses. Horses can also have a Ravager Horn: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360043135032-Ravager-Horns : these allow the horse to break foliage.
    Combat: Horses damage mobs when they run them over. Some horses do more damage than others and the quality is hereditary. While on a horse, all attacks are criticals, but the attack timer requires 1.5 to attack. (As opposed to 1-attack, 2-critical).
    Zombie horses: Horses will now be pursued by zombies with the ability to pick up items. Horses will attempt to escape these zombies, but if caught and killed, they will become zombie horses. Which will be mounted by zombies. Unmounted zombie horses are passive, but once mounted by a zombie, a zombie horse will remain hostile.

    No problem! The more feedback and activity that happens here, the better. Another thing I would love to see changed (that I forgot to mention in the introduction) is how the player sits on the horse - I think it'd be much more natural-looking with the legs spread out and at the horse's sides, like an actual rider might sit.

    My suggestion is that by holding ctrl while riding in somewhat straight line would make you charge your enemies knocking them back while dealing a fair amount of damage, would be even greater with lances or spears.

    It would be awesome if all of these changes came together in some kind of Horse Update! Lances would be awesome with revamped horses.

    Another suggestion would be to add a bonus reach when riding horses. This idea works perfectly with the upcoming combat snapshots!

    In addition it should be noted that sweeping edge should also be adjusted while riding a horse as It currently damages your mount.

    My only worry would be that adding a horse trample function could give way to possible damage exploits, but if implemented only when the horse jumps, for example, I think it could be a really great idea!

    You could also have horses deal kicking damage. If you just tapped Space (not enough to really jump) the horse would rear instead of jump and kick things in front of it. Of course, a horse can't rear constantly so you would still have to do some of the fighting yourself, the horse would just be able to help out a bit.

    I feel that players on horses should have an extended reach, they should be able to hit mobs within 2x the normal distance.

    I agree 100%. Here's a thought: What if horse armor was split into two pieces? You have the Saddle Armor, and the Bridle, both of which would come in all armor material variants, can be crafted, and have different levels of defense.

    How about different effects for different types of weapons. Swords and Axes could have the sweeping effect you mentioned. Tridents, instead of throwing, could have a thrust effect like a jousting lance. Bows are a bit more challenging to think of ideas for though.

    Another suggestion that NEEDS to be added is, two player saddles, where two players can ride on a horse, this would be cool if you needed to save your friend from multiple mobs

     I’d like to see archery from horseback improved too, anytime I knock an arrow and try to aim the horse turns and puts its head in my way, I think the horse shouldn’t turn when you’re aiming an arrow, it ignores mouse/game stick movement when a bow is drawn.

    yes please for a lance and for trampling damage.  Mounted combat should definitely be a thing, dismounting to take care of mobs is one of the silliest things in the game.
