Many players hate waiting mechanics, and I'm suggesting a couple of solutions (just one of this would have to be implemented).
-Channelling II: it'll make it possible to cast lightenings under the normal rain. It could be op, so casting lightenings will now make the trident lose a lot of durability (I'm thinking about 1/10). Player will obviously be able to repair it with mending. The result of this will be more control on the game by the player and less wasted time.
-Weather rituals: maybe you can add a block that you can fill with ingredients to do the ritual, and maybe you would have to build a structure around it like the beacon or the conduit. I'm thinking that to make it rain it would require many ghast tears, and for thunderstorms you would have to add other ingredients like (maybe) firecharges.
