This is the second post about my ideas of 1.15, the lifestyle update. Forging items in Minecraft is simple. Pop a stick here, place the material there, then… POW! You have a shiny new sword! What if it was a little more complex than that? And a little more customizable.
Introducing, the forge! A bed-sized block made from the cold stone of the mines, and the deadly flames of the nether! This block is used to craft many weapons in the game. The crafting system is lots more modular and complex. The grid is lots bigger, coming in at a size of 9x3 squares! This crafting grid is large because it is used to create massive and powerful weapons. The possibilities are nearly endless, so there’s no way I could list the types of items you can make. The way you place the items in the grid determines how the item turns out. You could have a diamond longsword with emerald-plated edges and an iron grip, or a prismarine trident infused with the power of ice, letting you freeze your opponent’s!
This crafting sequence is more complicated than normal. First, you have to wait for the forge to heat up, which takes a bit. After it is heated up, you can place your items in the grid. Now, exit the GU. The materials are shown sitting on top of the forge block itself. Why? Because you need to hit the materials with a hammer! You can only get an iron hammer. The time it takes to forge the tool with your hammer and the strength of the resulting weapon all depends on your skill level in weapon smithing, which I will talk about later on in the gameplay section. I feel this needs to be a part of Minecraft because the normal weapons and weapon crafting system is overall boring, and you get tired of using the same weapon over and over again.
