Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

maybe we can add some buttons for this block, like restart , turns chessboard to normal and resets the game. also players cant move pieces wildly. chess laws work here! no cheating! also players should select to be white or black. this chessboard block can crafted using obsidian and quartz and... out of idea.

(also add a part to hud for showing moves times!!)

Perhaps there could be a new property for certain block types (Packed Ice comes to mind): blocks placed on it can be shoved by punching them (or using a piston to shove them). Using a tool on the block would break it as normal.

Then any block could be made into a gaming piece. Although this would work really well in conjunction with the Gargoyles idea

you could use different types of wood for pieces. maybe dark oak for black and birch for white. you craft each piece individually on a crafting table, then the board. then you place the board on a block and open the chessboard. you could place the pieces on the board, or in a storage spot in the chessboard(maybe an enchantment for that.) the game could start when all the pieces are in the correct spots on the board. after each round it could lose durability. you could get exp for winning. to play an A.I. you could ask a villager to play chess. if it wants to it will go to the nearest chess board.
