While I don’t think “non-solid” is exactly the right word, I think everyone can agree that we would like more blocks/items that don’t fill the full space of a block. These are things like slabs, stairs, potion stands, etc. I see a lot of people advocating for more plants, more food, vertical slabs, and more in general. I think all of these are great ideas, but I have some more specific things I’d like to discuss. For instance, lots of items already exist that would be really interesting for decorating but are not placeable, such as pumpkin pie, apples, the gold idol, shells, bowls and so on. It would be amazing to place some of those items, which would open significant decorating abilities. Additionally, there could be more types of slabs, stairs, doors, signs, paintings, etc, which I have also seen people talking about. I think it might be a little much to add things like a full set of dishes (plates, silverware, etc) which can be creatively made using pressure plates and item frames, but I’m sure there are lots of other things that could be really interesting to use for decoration and better functionality. In a somewhat recent episode from the Hermicraft server, they used hidden armor stands to make a sword look like it was stuck in the ground. This made it easier for them to grab it, kill the sheep in their farm, and then put it back without having to store it in a chest or keep it in an inventory space. I think ideas similar to this would open endless possibilities for survival, creative, and adventure worlds.
