Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Perhaps, when you put the tool belt in a hotbar slot, alt + scroll wheel could cycle through items stored in the tool belt, so you wouldn't have to take items in and out of the tool belt

Just having those few extra inventory slots not taken up by tools seems like a great idea, early game i tend to have most of my hotbar filled, and later on they just take up a ton of space in my ender chest + shulker box storage

I created this account to just to suggest a tool/weapon belt after I seen the traffic on that OP idea of an early game backpack. The chest mule already exists and then there are shulkers for endgame that make the accomplishment feel most rewarding compared to any endgame that I've experienced so far. (I just beat the game for the first time). I love the idea of the scroll wheel with a mouse or a PS5 touchpad in my case to access the contents.

A nice idea, of course, but in my opinion, the belt can coexist with the backpack just fine.

I think wearing the tool belt should simply add more slots to your hot bar. (Maybe 4 slots?) Adding inventory slots seems like a task better equipped for a potential backpack item. A toolbelt and the hotbar serve the same purpose, which is to provide immediate access to a handful of items. Therefore it makes sense for the tool belt to expand the hotbar. Expanding the hotbar would also be far more intuitive, rather than requiring complicated new UI/controls for storing items within items. Lastly, I think that any items stored in the extra slots should be displayed on the belt model.

I think that mining or interacting with a block would call up the best tool (i.e. LMB on waxed copper would call pickaxe, RMB would call axe). If a player punches a mob, it would call up the sword, trident or axe, depending on what is "closest" to the selected slot. Right-clicking a mob (without interacting with it) would call the Bow, Crossbow or Trident. Right-clicking on thin air would call the Spyglass, Bow, Crossbow or Trident. To go back to your normal hotbar, simply switch to a different hotbar slot.

The tool belt should be an equippable item (add new armor slot for belts) and this will increase your hotbar length

    - Tiers
--Tier 1: Leather belt (1 slot)
--Tier 2: Iron buckle belt (2 slots)
--Tier 3: Gold buckle belt (3 slots)
--Tier 4: Diamond buckle belt (4 slots)
--Tier 5: Netherite buckle belt (5 slots)

    - Crafting
Belts are crafted with 2 leather and one ingot.
Initially, belts do not add any slots. To add a slot, you must first craft the belt, then add one of the following for one additional slot: 1 ingot, or 1 empty bottle, or 1 wool, or 1 leather.

    - Slot types
Each ingot slot will let you carry a non-stackable tool, each wool slot will let you carry a stack of seeds/saplings/food/etc, each bottle will let you carry a potion, & each leather will let you carry arrows. This give players more customization to their play style. You can mix slots on a belt.

Belts will not add armor and don't necessarily need a visual representation. If belts are visual, different skin options can be available through unlocks or the MC store.

Belts will drop upon death along with their items. They do not act like shulker boxes. If the belt is unequipped, it will not contain the items, you must have the inventory space available to hold the items or prevent belt removal.

    TLDR;
5 belt tiers: Leather, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite
4 slot types: Tool, Potion, small items, arrows
You can mix and match slot types
Belts will not hold items unless equipped
Belts drop their items upon death
