option to turn off content filtering / word censor in Realms and Bedrock

The game shouldn't erase a sign or a book or even blot out the individual words unless the player wants that.

We ought to be allowed to have adult conversations about the pros and cons of shaft mining and strip mining in a game about mining without the censor getting in the way.

 

The censor is clunky, and there should be a way to toggle it.

    This thread has been going on for a long time. Program a dang chat setting to toggle profanity filter on and off, maybe even go a step further and you could allow the user to create a list of words they don’t want showing up. Or not! Just a simple toggle on and off would be VERY HELPFUL. Hello? Is anybody there?

    i tried to feedback fixing this and i got ignored them i hate the profanity filter so much but i dont think they wanna fix it i wish they could make it a toggle option in world settings or something

    yea, the censorship in this game is really out of hand, for example i’m trying to write the lyrics to a song i like in a book and quill and one of the verses goes like this

    “Close your eyes
    You’ll see it forever
    Close your heart
    Don’t try to remember”

    and for some reason it keeps censoring from forever to don’t and i can’t figure out why
    this censorship is very odd and sporadic and something needs to be done about it at this point

    Shoutout to Mojang and Microsoft for sleeping on this with four years and 766 votes. Real user-friendly. Definitely doesn't align itself with Microsoft's typical condescending pseudo-friendly behavior in the last several years.

    It's a real hoot these clowns haven't canned the feedback site yet. Thanks for nothing.

    Mojang can you please add some workaround here?? This profanity filter - especially on single player worlds - is absolutely infuriating.

    Hello! I posted on a smaller topic that was about the same as this one. I tried to name an item after my private instructor at my college, Dr. Bish, and it got censored. Of course, I wasn't trying to be hurtful, it's just her name, and I really like her as a teacher. It would be really nice to have the ability to turn this feature off on bedrock realms I share with my friends, just like you can do on Java. This could be done by the owner of the realm to affect the whole world, or by individual players through a parental setting or an account setting.

    If this is an absolute no, at least, when naming items, have the filter kick in BEFORE you rename the item, else the player may waste some levels when the profanity filter kicks in for words like Bish or assassin.

    I agree. If Java is allowed to turn it off so should Bedrock.

     

    I can't write the books for my realms library without having issues.

    I’ve spent a year building a dnd style adventure game on a realm. It starts in a tavern, but not Tavern is a censored word. Tavern. I had to change a lot to make my game flow right again. I am not a fan of the censoring at all.

    Adding to the shedload of comments about the censoring erasing things that make no sense at all, I can't even name my maps with a grid system because for some unbelievably stupid reason "4, 0" is censored, on a Realm shared only with friends this should NEVER have been a thing.

    This is beyond any level of censoring I have ever seen in a game before, it's no wonder the vast majority of people I know playing this game don't want to touch Bedrock edition, if it wasn't for knowing a couple people who can only play on console and wanting to play with them I'd never have came near this horrendously poor version of the game.

    Why not just block all text entirely at this point, seriously? If we can't communicate basic numerical combinations then what's the point of having the option?

    Games censoring normal words in my language. You know, wild stuff like "man" or "I" or "donkey". By god might as well delete the chat function altogether.

    Why is saloon a slur according to minecraft signs?
    Seriously, go type saloon on a sign and it will turn the whole sign to #. I'm building an old western base, and one of the buildings are the "Black Cherry Saloon". I can't even type s@loon, because it still blots it out.

    Still an issue in 1.20.62. It censors the word "fletching" as in "fletching table", the name of a block in Minecraft's own game that they named themselves. Absolutely ridiculous. The censor doesn't work properly, and not being able to toggle this on my own server full of people only I want in it is incredibly stupid. No longer using Realms

    I play with a bunch of 30yo grown men on a private server. Swearing is not an issue to anyone. What is an issue is random words being censored for no reason. Not everyone types in English, though it happens in English also.

    Filters do not work period. They cannot see context.
    At least let me, a grown adult, turn them off. I swear I will survive seeing my partner's boring basic legal English first name in chat.

    I'm trying to make my city world. For the first 5 years, I could put literally anything on a sign thanks to PS4 Edition. Ever since I moved to PS4 + Bedrock 5 years ago, it censored reasonably, but when I put it on a Realm so I could play anywhere? I can't even write a made up address without ################ blocking it. I get they don't want kids to doxx themselves, but did you notice I started the world 10 years ago? I started it when I was a kid and now I'm 23. I suppose I needed something like that to keep me safe, but I'm an adult now. An adult sharing their address is their problem, not Microsoft's. And even then, I'm writing addresses in the context of the city world! Streets and buildings need those!

    Bottom line: Please make it a parental feature. We've been begging for years!! Make one mode for light censorship of bad words, make another for heavier censorship, i.e heavy bad word removal, addresses, etc. Change the TOS to acknowledge no censorship and no legal action can be taken against MS for leaking info!

    This is true. I once had a very normal conversation with my friend. I tried saying the word "who're" not the other word(Not sure if it's allowed here so I'll keep it PG). It's really clunky and restrictive. If I do want to swear, I should be able to. This should be a toggle able settings for kids or individuals who don't want to read those words.

    Wasted a nametag because I named my horse Berginson (which I've named my horse in every world for 5 years) and it has never been a problem since now. 1984 all over again.

    Bro the censor blocked "White, Silver, And Lighter" like mojangs censor ships systems should scan the rest of the text to see if its an insult or something mean. Just trying to clarify the color of my cat
