For Part 1 go check it out: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360033638791-Nether-Overhaul-Part-1-Shrouded-Forest You will understand what I am talking about better.
I think it's time to make a second part to the "nether overhaul" and to add on to the first part, I think the nether should have a complete overhaul. As said there is not much you can do down there. To summon it up in a sentence: The Nether is a hellish dimension that is like a wasteland that harbors life based on fire. That's it. Let's get started on what I want to talk about.
The Nether Plains looks like the Nether you see everyday however it has more mushrooms, a new tree dubbed the "Ghostwood" tree, new plants, new ores in caves, a new grass block variant, and a few new mobs.
The Ghostwood tree is a tree that is like it's counterpart from the Natura mod being transparent and a white color however, the difference is planks, doors, slabs, stairs, etc. are bioluminesent. However it gives no light source off, this would be interesting as we have not had any trees nor blocks added in the game that serve this functionality. That's all I got for now for the Ghostwood tree.
The grass block introduced in this plains is similar to mycelium however it is a charred black color for the grass and it grows on netherrack. If you use any hoe on it, it will turn into normal netherrack. It also is the one of the blocks that Ghostwood saplings can be planted on other than netherrack or soul sand. It also can be used to grow mushrooms as well into giant mushrooms.
The new ores that would be introduced are sulfur, nether platinum, and ashstone.
Sulfur would be an ore that can be smelter into sulfur dust which can be crafted with iron to make a sulfur smoke bomb. These things can make mobs run away from you and you can have a chance to escape. However you can get nausea from the cloud of the smoke bomb.
Nether platinum is an ore that can be smelter to platinum ingots which is an equivalent to iron in durability however, the sword can deals the same as an iron sword. The armor when the full set is worn has 17 armor points which is near the protection of diamond armor. It also can be made into platinum nuggets which behaves the same as an iron nugget. It also can be made into tools like pickaxes, axes, shovels, and hoes which are the equivalent to iron tools however, platinum pickaxes can mine through obsidian which is a plus from iron. This stuff can be crafted into platinum bars which are tougher than iron bars, platinum blocks, anvils, tripwire hooks, platinum doors which are not affected by explosions and is activated by ashstone, levers, or buttons, platinum trapdoors behave the same as the doors, and can be crafted into a platinum Golem which is an equivalent to iron told me except is resistant to fire in case if you have a village in the nether.
Ashstone is an equivalent to Redstone however it doesn't connect with Redstone and can be used with tnt which makes it blow up instantaneously after its activated. However it does craft Redstone stuff except Ashstone has it's own repeaters, comparators, and torches.
The mobs that spawn here starting from ones introduced into the game already are Ghasts, Zombie Pigmen, Endermen, and Magma Cubes. The new mobs would be the scorched which is a variant of zombie that is charred and can swim in lava, similar to a drowned in the Overworld. The fire serpent which is as the name implies however they are 7 blocks long and when they inflict damage it causes fire damage as well. The flying type fire serpent when which are the same as fire serpents but they can fly and spew blaze fireballs. The damned which is a wither skeleton fused with a stray, when they inflict damage it inflicts both wither and slowness and is 2 blocks tall rather than 3. The last mob is the fallen tempest which are humanoid like creatures that wear wither skeleton skulls and can fly and they also can fire Ghast fireballs, and they can use wind from their wings which extend to 4 blocks each. They usually fly like a drowned swimming with their wings flapping like a phantom or the ender dragon.
The plants that spawn here are wither roses and burning blossoms (see part 1 for this one). The plant life that spawns here are wither rose bushes which behave the same as wither roses only they are 2 blocks tall and are the same as a rose bush. Decayed vines spawn here on Ghostwood trees occasionally and behave the same as regular vines only they are charred black in color. There also is the thornflower which can inflict damage and give the poison effect and are like cornflakes only the stems are charred black and the flower itself is a red color. The last idea I have for this is a lava blossom which it doesn't hurt you and it does the complete opposite of lava giving the fire resistance effect. It looks like a dandelion only the stem is charred black and the flower itself is a tangerine color that gives off a light source like a torch.
This is all I got for now and if you haven't checked part 1 out I highly suggest you do. If you have any suggestions or anything to add on to my suggestions feel free to comment down below. As always DaikaijuGoji signing off!
