The crossbow doesn't need the bow enchantments. It is strong enough already. If you craft fireworks with seven firework stars, they are way stronger than normal.

Still weaker than a power V bow though, so I agree with Zig. Power V bow does 12.5 hearts of damage, firework with 7 stars only does 8.25 hearts.

They should balance the bow and crossbow out, if they decide not to add bow enchants to the crossbow, then add an enchant called guiding, which will make a projectile home towards the nearest target in a 5 block radius, greatly increasing the crossbow’s accuracy.

Even if they don't add it to survival it could be nice if they add it for map makers.

I definitely agree with this; Power & Infinity should easily be applicable and as said by sP4ZoR4Ma: Currently, none have any effect via command application, which is a complete waste for map makers. The more crossover there are among the lesser specific enchantments the better, in my personal opinion.

As for Flame, Punch, Piercing, Quick Charge and Multishot, I would add either Piercing or Quick Charge to the bow, but keep Punch and Flame exclusive. The reason for this is that there would be an equal number of exclusive enchantments. Piercing & Punch would of course not work well together, and would require to be mutually exclusive like Silk Touch & Mending. I would however lean towards adding Quick Chage to the bow because, while the crossbows deal more damage than bows, the downside should still be that a bow can be loaded quicker than a crossbow. Either way; I don't see why all of these should not work on both when applied via commands.

I both agree and disagree with this thread:

Although using a crossbow without multishot and a 7-star firework still falls short of a bow, having multishot and the firework instakills mobs and works well for crowd control as well. If close enough you can kill multiple mobs too.

Having infinity would be OP such that you can basically have a down-graded version of this with piercing and multishot. With multishot, you can aim such that only the side arrows hit mobs and whereas the middle does not. With piercing (as ling as it's not a gigantic group) you can retrieve the arrow 9 times outta 10. Having infinity would just be too much. Quite frankly arrows aren't hard to come by and with mob farms, the crafting recipe, and simply that it's mutually exclusive with mending, infinity just becomes obsolete.

Power, yeah crossbows should have it, but maybe not up to 5. As stated by someone else previously, the crossbow is primarily for crowd control and having it one-shot multiple mobs with multishot and piercing may be a bit much. Maybe add a new enchantment that goes up to 2 that's like power but doesn't insta-kill multiple mobs. Or make it where power can only go up to 2 on crossbows.

Punch would be great because if you're dealing with crowds you can at least lighten the group of mobs or simply knock back multiple players at once.

Flame should be exclusive to bows, having it on crossbows would be just plain unbalanced!

While I do agree that some changes are in order, I think the crossbow has plenty going for it as it is and I wouldn't be too disgruntled if no changes came. ut it would be nice for some no flavor to them as well!

    What do you guys think?

i found that using anvil you can enchant crossbow with power or flame, but it does nothing as the arrow does nor make fire, nor have better range/damage and honestly we really need power enchantment since if not its just a shotgun with little bullets

I agree, but instead of adding the bow enchantments, they should add a new enchantment for the crossbow, maybe one that is able to load multiple arrows at a time into a crossbow, allowing you to fire multiple arrows with out having to reload. This wouldn't be like Multishot, where you fire multiple arrows at once, but instead you are able to fire individual arrows without having to reload, and it would be mutually exclusive with Multishot

I just want to get a punch 1 crossbow with commands. I can get it, but punch does not actually affect the knockback.

Kylo i kinda agree with your idea maybe it should be named something like endless shot

but it kinda feels a bit overpowered if its shooting at a fast rate

What Idrac3601 said but to add to it,if you use multishot with a 7 star firework it can deal over 30 damage(saying all of them affect the mob)THAT can be used as crowd control.

@lDrac3601 I play bedrock and no matter the amount of firework stars, shooting fireworks out of a crossbow is completely useless I think this update has to happen

    I actually disagree with you
Crossbow with a firework deal less than a bow Power V, but it has area.
Also, if we combined both enchant to them, the crossbow won't be unique
Plus, crossbow has multishot and piercing, which, with a firework rocket, can deal so many damage AND AREA

Hey, I hate to be a necromancer but i feel that this thread has missed a very glaring oversight. Some people say “no, it’d be too unbalanced or too OP” and to that i say. . . good. . . it SHOULD be more powerful than a bow. Think about it, why is the weapon with the cheaper recipe just outright better than the more expensive recipe??? Like imagine if the stone sword was stronger than the iron sword. How the hell would that make sense?

A bow is made out of 3 string, 3 sticks. Essentially just a fishing pole with an extra string. Most common items for an end-game item recipe. You can easily get theses before your first bed in a new world. Now lets look at the cross bow: 4 sticks, 2 string, 1 plank and 2 iron ingots OR 3 sticks, 2 string 1 iron ingot and 1 spare trip wire if you happen to have one laying around (and lets be honest, you never do so you gotta make one).

How are we spending more to make less??? That just sounds like unbalanced economics to me. If you ask me, I’m willing to take it to the extremes and say that bow needs to be nerfed with the crossbow getting what the normal bow lost. The bow should outright be the lesser weapon if we base things off of recipe economics, which we should since thats what defines an items equivalent to cost. Legit, why is this STARTER weapon also the end game weapon. The ramp is backwards here. As i said before, imagine if a wooden pick could mine everything the iron pick could but the iron pick could only mine cobblestone and coal.

I would like to see Flame being accessible for Crossbows; however, instead of adding Power to them, I would make that Piercing increases damage by 25%, like Power
