Please read the pinned post on creating new biomes and dimensions. Remember that individual items, mobs, and structures should still go in their own categories - this is not a category for entire updates.

Salt and a salty biome have already been suggested, although the biome post is very vague.

I like the idea of having a desert variation, so I suggest doing something inspired by the Salar of Uyuni.

The Salar of Uyuni, the largest salt desert in the world, is one of the great natural wonders of Bolivia. About 3500 meters of altitude, it is an important one, being a source of minerals like lithium, magnesium, potassium and sodium, a lot of sodium.

Isla del Pescado, is an elevation over the Salar de Uyuni. One of its main characteristics is the feet of giant cacti, which can reach more than 10 meters in height.

This style of slag desert could come as a biome on Mountain Update, being found in the Andes, a large mountain range.

The addition of a salt desert could bring many new possibilities for exploration, in addition to adding more variety to the game.

    Hi!

I'm so happy to meet this post!!! I was about to write the same.

My name is Catalina, I'm 35 years old, and I'm a natural resource engineer who loves playing Minecraft. Also, I'm from Chile, and right now our salt flats are mainly seen as mining places to extract lithium. The problem is that with the increasing demand for this mineral, people often forget the uniqueness and importance of these ecosystems to animals, plants, and indigenous people who have lived with them in balance for generations.

I think it would be lovely to see salt flats in the desert and meza biomes of the game. A rare mini-biome where only flamingos could thrive and collect their spare feathers to create pink dye. Where only microalgae grow, and stromatolite appears: a sedimentary rock that, once smoothed, can be used in building.

Here, we can also extract lithium salt to empower mechanisms, but with more strength than redstone. Lithium salt can also be used in potions to take down any "negative effect" of the player, or even give luck to the player and find easily hidden structures or rare minerals (inspired by the real-life use of lithium for medical purposes).

In Chile we have a lot of salt flats to inspire the game, like San Pedro de Atacama (the most famous) and others looking for protection from international mining projects (like Maricunga salt flat).

I hope this proposal finds the light in any upcoming update of the game, and I wish everyone a good day.

    Big hug from Chile!
