What is parity? This category is designed just for features that exist but work one way on one platform, and another way on a different platform. Bugs are not parity! Items in snapshots and betas are subject to change so please be sure to only post about things that are currently released in Minecraft. Please read the intro post before you post!

Not only chests but all of the other containers as well, i.e. hoppers, droppers, dispensers, furnaces, smokers, blast furnaces, shulker boxes, etc. Basically, if it's a container, you should be able to push it with pistons and sticky pistons.

you could just ask for some of the code to the redstone++ mod.

Edit: you cant use the code from bedrock because it is a different coding language

This is absolutely something that should've been added long ago and would improve the game greatly. It would also be a first step to make stuff like TNT Dupers obsolete since you could then use moveable dispensers instead. Please consider this for the next update Mojang!

Since many contraptions rely on non-pushable tile entities, one way to add this could be adding a new piston that can push these blocks. This would also work with sticky structures.

If dispensers became movable, we could build more creative traps. I've been wanting to make a FUN survival-friendly troll map for a long time, now.

If containers are going to be movable we NEED an immovable and transparent block. Currently, the hopper can be used for this, but if it becomes movable no current block matches those characteristics.

This thing is totally doable there are already plugins and mods that do this, the game is made out in object oriented programming if the programmers they don't do this it's maybe due to already bad game performance or just laziness or backward compatibility of circuits (i think that this shouldn't be the reason but maybe it is), is really easy to create a chest object or a container one (the data part, not the graphical part)
In bedrock there was a bug now solved about item duplication by using a chest while get pushed and was solved just by force the chest to close before getting pushed
You can do it in just an hour or so
The NTB part is just a thing that makes you poor non programmer guy interact with the internal data of the chest object, soft API can may be the right definition

I think it should be any containers that are a whole block should be move able.

Java has so many features that bedrock has little, so give them a chance. Cuz we have a lot of features than bedrock

listen java already has EVERYTHING that bedrock doesn't and then you get greedy and ask for more?  i think with all the java exclusive stuff bedrock should be allowed to keep at least ONE thing that  puts it in front of java.

Redstone parity is just part of the chests not being moveable in Java.

if this was added then add block spitting to bedrock for a nice trade off :)

To everyone saying this would take a long time and require massive rewrites, as a modder I can tell you that it wouldn't be THAT big of a deal. I haven't done it myself personally but I've looked at Minecraft's code long enough that, unless there's some obscure rendering thing which I haven't accounted for, I'm pretty sure this can be done relatively easily.

Oh come on let Bedrock Edition have something cool that Java doesn’t have.

This would certainly be an excellent feature. However, it seems from other comments on this idea and other info, it would be very hard to implement. There is a mod called Carpet that allows pushable block entities, so apparently it's possible. The mod is also open-source, so it could be possible to get an idea of exactly how difficult this is to implement.

I think only containers that take up the full space of the block should be moveable, mean chest,  hoppers, ender chest, campfires Etc. would not be move able, but it would let barrels, furnaces, droppers, and dispensers move. This would allow us to have both a moveable and non moveable containers in a way that would make sense.

Just a though, as seeing hoppers being pushed can look really weird if done vertical as they don't even touch each other.

Not just chests, all block entities should be pushable.

As a bedrocker, can confirm that this should be added

I am a bedrock player but I totally support this not just for chests but for all tile entities. And considering the fact that the entire rendering engine of caves were rewritten in 1.18, it might take a while but this is definitely possible.

Sip, opino que debería llegar a Java para poder hacer muchos mecanismos con cofres que se mueven

Mojang, I love you. We know this is possible; you already put in the effort of programming it for this year's April Fools snapshot. Please. Just— just move it over into a real snapshot. Please I am begging you. If you add movable tile entities into Java I will literally kiss you on the lips, Mojang. Please. Please, no, where are you going—

It came out as a bug to move tile entities but if Mojang adds this bedrock deserves Quasi-Connectivity

I hope this will come! Would be super useful for instant redstone storage tech. :)
