I agree, I think Mending + Infinity should absolutely be allowed. I think it doesn't make the bow too op. In this way it just forces us to carry a lot of arrows that are not so hard to get. It's just a praticity matter. And making Infinity + Mending combination impossible prevents us from making "the perfect bow" that is easily and infinitely repairable and that has all the most important enchantments on it.

Arrows are easy to farm though.

I disagree. There should be a trade off... You either get infinite arrows that is costly to repair, or you get limited arrows but no repair.
The same concept with why you can't have an Elytra on at the same time as Chestplate. It would just simply be too op and would ruin pve and inf+mend would render a sword basically useless unless you want looting. The only people I see vouching for this are lazy or selfish people who just want their own desires met.

I fish out a mending bow but I run out of arrows so I have to make a bake up bow.

Good post, I honestly think that mending and infinity should work on a bow because having a mending bow and no access to arrows is quite annoying

I think, it whould be a gamerule, or singleplayer exclusive, becasse in singleplayer, I choose to use give command or get normal way an item, so it whould be my choose to put mending and infinity on a bow or I think it will be too OP, so I don't do that... If it will a gamerule, the admin's choose will be allowed or not...

I don’t see why it is so important to the game that I can’t make a bow that has mending and infinity. Infinity is a special enchantment that could be extremely useful but it’s not. Since the addition of mending, no one is willing to continuously make new tools. This leaves the infinity enchantment in the dust as it is no longer worth using. It is such a simple change that I don’t see why it isn’t worth it. The only real opposition to this is the comp side of the game. Comp servers have to use mods anyway, but for most players this isn’t as possible. I saw another comment recommend a gamerule command which would work great. Anyone who disagrees with this decision could simply [/gamerule allow mending_infinity true] it wouldn’t hurt to at least poll the community.

Honestly, I don't think its necessary. The repair materials for bows are cheap. Its easy to just breed a villager librarian and reroll them until they get infinity. Whenever you don't feel like repairing your bow, just enchant infinity on a new one.

I find I can stick with one unbreaking III bow until end-game when I have whatever villager trades I want and an XP farm to make enchanting really cheap anyways. A bow is so useful that I don't think it needs to be buffed more as well.

I guess I understand why they’re mutually exclusive in PvP (although if everyone could do it, then the playing field is still level right? *shrug*) but in survival? No reason not to have both. As another poster pointed out you can put Loyalty and Mending on a trident so why is it different for bows? Make it really expensive (39 levels even) if you must, Microsoft, but please fix this!!

I think that it's so overpowered that you shouldn't be able to get it from easier methods of enchanting items, such as using enchanting tables or librarians.

It makes no sense why Mojang thought it would be a good idea to remove such a good feature! Mojang might have thought that after adding fireworks to the game, that players wouldn't have a use for both enchantments combined. But after playing Minecraft for about 7 years now, I realized how useful the feature was. So Mojang, PLEASE ADD IT BACK! Thank you.

I think that it's so overpowered

maybe you need something like a trim used for the new armor

a trim for the bow found really rare

I don't think this should have been taken away in the first place. Mojang allows for mending on other weapons, including tridents that have loyalty on them which essentially is the same as infinity for tridents. The main reason I'm aware of that it was taken out was because of people in PvP tournaments and such spamming arrows across the map like a machinegun, but with the way bows are now that's not possible anyway. Also as mentioned all other weapons can have mending without any issue to their other enchants. This means that while someone may have an infinity bow once the durability runs out they can't attack while someone with a loyalty trident, or a sword or axe still can attack. if you think it's broken then just have it as a toggle in the options menu for the Admins that are hosting to switch on or off for the server, and have the same toggle for those of us in single player to make it so we aren't having to either make a LOT of infinity bows because they eventually break, or we have to carry around an ungodly number of arrows because we don't have infinity on our bow...till it's fixed I'm using mods to fix it sense Mojang seems to be refusing to budge because of people being silly in PvP.

I made a 1.11 world, and having mending and infinity together was so so nice. I could just spam arrows without a care in the world. Pure bliss.
