breeding restrictions

we should not be able to breed family members of animals and villagers. its just wrong.

    I know it isn't a good idea in real life, but animal breeders do it anyways.  (Just watch a documentary on dog breeders where they talk about breeding a young dog with her grandfather to reinforce a trait they like)

     

    The issue is that this isn't real life.  Genetics aren't a thing.  And it would be quite a pain to have to bring in "fresh blood" to be able to keep breeding your cows, especially when your cow farm has already taken up the passive mob cap and prevents any new cows from spawning nearby.

    we need to be able to breed them

     the villager thing i can understand but once a village has its normal amount of villagers the village can't spawn any more so they have to let breeding in the game

    The problems with this argument: 

    If you find the same animal type and put it on the farm, no-one would like to play a game called "find the one chicken that can be used to breed", and as the farm grows the more difficult it can be to manage.

    Secondly, There will be a whole new family and gene system that the devs will need to implement to make this work. 

    Finally, can't we just overlook our society's taboos and just remember this is a video game and we're all here to have fun. :D

    The way genetics works, there is an extremely high chance of two genetically similar animals, such as siblings, of having a baby with significant birth defects.  I would like to explain it, but it would take too long.
