Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I think the trident is powerful enough as a base weapon.  The issue is that it doesn't have the same kind of enchantment options that the sword does.  Impaling is an awesome new enchantment, but it only works on specific underwater mobs (not even on drowned!).  Impaling is a great enchantment for raiding an ocean monument, but not much else.

I happen to have a suggestion covering adding more of the appropriate enchantments to the trident (and axe): (link)

Making new recipes such as adding diamonds on the trident to make the attacks more powerful.

Perhaps arrows could be tipped with water, which makes the water rain down underneath it as it travels.

That dripping water could be used as a substitute for rain/water blocks, allowing the enchantments that require it to be used in clear weather/underground. Impaling could also act as it does in bedrock, dealing extra damage to any wet mob (which splash potions or even the previously mentioned arrow could inflict enemies with).

This could even be applicable while in the nether, as dangerous and overpowered as that may be!

I think Tridents should be better in a unique way. When throwing it tt's less powerful than a fully enchanted bow and when using left clicking its less powerful than a fully enchanted sword. This makes it practically useless in many combat situations. I think adding either a unique enchantment or ability to add an extra edge would make more of a place for it in combat, making combat more interesting. It has channeling and riptide but those only work in rain, making it inconsistent, so its not worth an inventory slot.

I think that adding more reach when using a trident would add this extra edge. It wouldn't be much, but  it would go with the whole idea of a trident's shape lengthwise, almost as if it were a spear. I would balance this with a longer delay between swings or two types of melee attacks with a trident, a basic one and a lunge, the latter having increased damage and an increased range with the cost of a longer recharge and maybe it moved you forward more.

Basically add another use to the trident and balance it.

more damage, enchants: allow it to go through armor to an extent, more damage in the rain/in water, faster charge speed, and being able to add potion effects to it for 1-3 hits, maybe by dipping it into potions in cualdrons but u would need to add the mechancic that allows potion in culdrons to java, or u coudl do it in the crafting grid, but idk how that would work with enchants
