    There is a wolf howl sound, however it is unused so instead bring the sound back and add on to the wolf

    i think the sound effect is > /playsound entity.wolf.howl ambient @a < so use that command in creative to hear wolf howl

    Maybe the sound effect would also be passive ambiance in the biomes that can have wolves, wouldn't that be a nice way to provide some ominous atmosphere to the surface at nighttime.

    It would be so easy to just apply the wolf howl into the game rather than leaving it in an unused state.

    Yes just the sound in biomes that can contain wolves.

    There is a way to tell if they are injured.

    Look for a droopy tail.
