Better yet, put a tap on a tree (you could use a tripwire hook) and after a while, the tap should be able to be clicked to get the syrup, (it has a long cool down)

I think this is a good idea, and since cows will give infinite milk I don't see how having infinite maple syrup would ruin anything, especially when you need a bucket to store it and they don't stack.

Why not instead of a bucket, it's a glass bottle? Maple trees can only give you so much tree sap!

I would change it into the following: you can click only once per maple tree log because after being clicked once with a bucket, it turns into dried maple log.

The normal maple planks have the same brightness level as the oak planks but with a lore copperish color, wile the dried maple planks have the same brightness level as the birch planks but are rather a very bright beige than a yellowish tone.

Oh, and it'd have red leaves.

The pankakes would bea good idea, but I'd also add the option of dumping a bucket of maple syrup on the snow and collect it with sticks, for 16 maple syrup on sticks per bucket.

You should be able to drink maple syrup and it should give speed II (like when you are sugar high)

I think it should come with a spike. Then you have to boil the sap to make syrup. Just like on real life. Hang the bucket on the spile to fill up with sap, then when you boil it, put it into glass bottles.

Wow I was never notified that I had comments on this. These are also good ideas, I wasn’t even thinking about a glass bottle

My dad is an award winning Maple Syrup Producer.

Why not have the mechanics be realistic???

Hang a bucket or bottle, after some delay say 1 day you get a full bucket or bottle.

(By 1 day I mean change from day to night to day. No need to time a full "day".)

For a forest giant you might be able to hang 2 or even 3 buckets.

Get a number of full buckets (40 would be too many for a game, but 4-6 might work), put into a furnace and get syrup.

Use Syrup with Bread to get a new food: French Toast!

There leafs should be orange and the planks have a little bit of maple syrup on it maby. You should also be able to have a pool of maple syrup.

When you use a new item a tap, on the maple tree, you could put a bottle in an empty bottle slot. This would give you sap (another food source). When combined with sugar you would get syrup giving basically acting like honey bottles (except for the honey blocks). You could use 4 bottles of sap to make sugar cubes. This could also implement a new job the Sweetsmith. A villager job that would sell sap, honey, and sweet berries. You could use 2 sugar cubes and 4 wood planks to make the sweet station.

I think that tapping a maple tree with a bucket can give you sap, and then in a furnace you can get syrup. If you drink the syrup you can get sugar rush which is swiftness 1 for a minute then slowness 1 for 1 minute

Although I 85% agree with this, I believe that there should be a different system of getting syrup. I believe that one should need to build a tap which (through RNG) fills up in between one and four minutes. After it is collected it can be boiled from sap (which does nothing if drunk) in a furnace to syrup. (Much as Claysoldier said)

I think maybe there could also be a slightly different way to make waffles too, so the maple syrup can go on those as well.

They should have their own biome and orange leaves.

i think you should be able craft something thin a tripwire hook bottle and 2 iron place it on the maple tree and then  the bottle will turn brownish when its ready then right click on it use the sryup on the bread and then wright click to put back the bottle

When planted as saplings, maple tree leaves could appear green. When they grow to full size, the tree will randomly decide if its foliage will be burgundy, red, orange, or yellow. Perhaps there could be a new biome for maple forests. That way there could be autumn foliage in Minecraft.

I also love the idea of hanging a bucket on a tree with an iron tap to get maple sap (I like the one bucket per day idea), then cooking the sap down in a furnace into bottles of maple syrup. That would be excellent for new recipes to make candies or breakfast foods.

I don't know about the use, but having maple tree in the game would be pretty. They should come with autumn colored leaves and make up the new forest called temperate forest

i had a similar idea, where with 1 stick, 5 string and 3 iron, in the shape of a blast furnace. place the... well i don't know the official name for it. but any way, place "it" on a maple tree an eventually, syrup appears. bottle it up and you get a newly skinned bottle with something resembling the label. it acts as honey, drink it and poison goes away and it turns to a normal bottle again. you can make a block out of them. honey is yellow while syrup is brown. it sticks like slime, and, you can swim in it. its not like water, though, because it doesn't spread. crafted with 2 wheat, 1 milk, 1 sweetberries(?) and the syrup, makes a pancake, that, when eaten, gives a load of hunger! on youtube, the action lab did a test, and sure enough, the bath toys swam at the same speed. check it out sometime!

It would also be great if the maple tree also gave it a new type of wood.

It would also be cool if the trees had red leaves since all the leaves we have now are green. Also it would be cool to be able to craft a syrup block that would work a lot like scaffolding where you could sink down and stay suspended within it. Another cool addition would be to make the flapjacks placeable like a cake, and make the player bounce when they jump on them just like they would with a bed

I know everyone's excited about this for the Maple Syrup but I'm happy because maple Tree planks could provide the missing gap between Spruce and Dark Oak! I've always wanted a sorta burnt umber maple color for doors and floors

I love this idea, but you didn't go too in depth on the wood it will give, so I did it for you.

The logs are a simple brown

The planks look like oak, but are slightly more red, and has a little bit of a shine unlike any other wood type.

The leaves are a red-orange color

The tree itself starts with a straight trunk, and then the leaves generate like a thicker acacia tree

I also want to add that it shouldn't be a bucket to collect syrup, but rather a bottle. Also, you can't collect the syrup from maple wood you placed. It has to be straight from the tree

The maple trees should be in their own biome, the maple forest. It has red-orange colored plants, and bees spawn everywhere.

It would be too easy to get the syrup and pancakes aren`t made of bread. They should have a diferent recipe but the pancakes are a good idea.

I would love this! Maple trees with orange or red leaves to act as a more autumnal looking tree would be amazing, especially now that we have cherry blossoms which are more of a spring blooming tree. Maybe wheat instead of bread to make pancakes, but it would be quite nice to have syrup as an item/ingredient along with just more visual leaf variety.
