First of all, I've seen some suggestions pretty close to this one and very interesting if we want to enhance the cauldron. It might be possible somehow to gather all these suggestions into one enhancement
My idea now, I've been thinking for a long time about what we can do for the cauldron. And I think a way of improvement could be by using it with potions, of course.
The idea here is to use it to "crystallize" effects into it to an item like golden apple/carott or a weapon.
CAULDRON AS A POTION EFFECTS BUFFER
It's pretty boring to drink one after one potions we need; the cauldron could be a way of mixing potions effects on an item. For exemple, if you want a potion effect, you make a right click (or with a dispenser why not) on the cauldron with your first potion (the bottle is now empty). The cauldron is a kind of buffer that memorise any potion put into. You can now transfer this effect to an item, a weapon or an armor.
WITH ITEMS THROWN INTO IT
From now if you throw a golden apple or carrot into it, the apple comes to a potion'd apple, with potion effect. This feature should be repeatable with the same item.
Instead of using golden carrot /apple maybe think about "fermented apple" created with eight fermented spider eyes and an apple. An new utility for spider eyes, not really useful so far.
WITH WEAPONS (arrows ?) THROWN INTO IT
The principle is the same, you throw a weapon into the cauldron and the effects are attached to this weapon, and you can apply it on entities you strike. The question is: How much time does the effect stays on the weapon ? Only for one unique hit ? Until the next moon-light ? Until the next rain ? As long as a potion effect ?
WITH ARMORS THROWN INTO IT
Only works with thorns. When your armor deals damage to an opponent, the attached potion effects does affect this entity.
I hope I've been clear, and sorry for syntax here, french.
