Vampirism status effect

I mentioned adding a vampirism effect before in support of my vampire bat post.  I actually like your idea for making the daytime a dangerous force when under vampirism (as opposed to Minecraft's classic, monster-infested nights).

But I don't agree that the player should be able to turn into a bat.  That kind of crosses too far from the boundaries of the survival game's theme of you vs. the wild.  Player-shapeshifting I'm afraid doesn't really cut it in a vanilla friendly implementation.  As for villager-vampires, it would depend on the kind of vampire.  Caped, Dracula-esque vampires only go in mods.  The evoker and illusioner illagers already fill as appropriate, dark warlocks.

What would the vampirism-resisting effect do exactly?  I don't see any specifics; that sounds like a tricky thing to plot out.  There aren't really any effects that repel another, just effects that stand as complete opposites to each other regardless.

The potion to resist vampirism would stop you turning into a vampire. So you would drink before fighting vampires.

I kinda was iffy about turning into a bat. So maybe it could only last 2 minutes and recharges for 5 minutes. Maybe it's a poor man's Elytra. This one could go, because the rest is interesting enough.

What I was thinking about was balance, so that getting this effect could be useful but have some disadvantages.

Vampires (including the player with vampirism) should burn in daylight and have these status effects in the nighttime:

    • Speed 2
    • Jump Boost 2
    • Resistance 3

Also, they should be avoided by:

    • Villagers
    • Cats
    • Ocelots

They should also be attacked by wolves.

The status effect should be reversible IMO using a potion, different from Vampire Resistance Potion, which would be used for preventive purposes. The cure for Vampirism should be more expensive than V.R.P. and induce some secondary effects to the player for a limited amount of time (by example, while the potion is doing its work, like when curing zombie villagers and they shake).

I really like the idea. It would give Minecraft more of a eerie effect, but I would agree that it would be to intense to turn into a bat. Good thinking
