heat and moisture map

place colder biomes to the north/south, hotter biomes near the middle, wet biomes to the east, and dry ones to the west. For example, a swamp is more likely to be located at (50, 0) than (-100, 350), while you might find more tundras in the area of z=500

    Except that doesn't work in an infinite world...  You can very easily travel into the thousands in the x and z in order to find the nearest of a rare structure or biome.  And anyone who decides to play nomad and go in a straight line for their entire time would end up in either nothing but desert or nothing but tundra, depending on which direction they go.
