    maybe it could instead be a separate item from the armor stand, like a statue item that acts like an armor stand but is harder to get and is able to to look like any skin that you currently own from the marketplace, that way there's a new reason to buy skins instead of buying a skin pack and only using one skin from it. its default form could look like a stone statue of steve.

    Maybe you somehow type in a persons gamertag and the armour stand then becomes that player

    Yes but only in creative mode or with comands

    No way, I love this idea but I play on console and in survival I already use armor stands to look like npc guards, this would be brilliant to add to my medieval world have traders actually in stalls you would be better off making a wand feature like in the mcedit mod for java edition to open up the skin menu but I would buy skin packs if I would be using more then one as of now I only use the free ones

    So you know how people sneak to change the pose of the armour stand so I just thought of a way to do it like do that and it will open up a menu where you can still change the pose but you can change the skins too

    Yes!  I love this idea. I don't think we'll ever be given a "Player Mob" in the near future. That being said, doing this with armor stands would be downright AMAZING. The only thing that could top this is if we have the ability to keep the armor stand with a permanent player skin and if we're able to change to skin model (Steve or Alex)

    It's probably more likely for it to only work with commands, but I do think thats plenty for a map or roleplay hub to use them in that way without adding a menu or anything, so I don't see a reason not to add this.

    It could use an NBT tag like skulls: PlayerModel

    totally agree. It would most likely be a command like /summon minecraft:armor_stand skin <playername>

    This is a great idea and could easily just be set with /summon armor_stand{PlayerSkin:"<playername>"}

    I've wanted something like this since they were added. Even still now as 1.15.2 is being worked on. Could use just a player name like skulls or that custom code thing where it can be anything you want, not needing to be from a player skin.

    I might be mistaken, but I heard somewhere you can already do this with nbt tags? Not sure though, and if anyone knows how I'd love to know...

    I think of it working like this: you go up to it with a name tag labeled whose gamer tag you want it to be but that person had to join that world. It will be their current skin but it won't change until you change it

    I agree with Carla and Diego it needs to be Creative only and the same thing as getting a head you type in the gamer tag and it changes the armor stand to that skin and it could be a statue attachment like MarbleRain said

    I am in favor of that you can do that with a command and that you can use any skin you have saved.

    This idea is really good, but would you do it with commands or maybe stand in front of it for a period of time?

    Possible idea for the command:

    /summon armor_stand {hasCustomSkin,skinOwner:(Playername)}

    When you enter your player name into the 'skinOwner:' part, that armor stand will become the skin you want. Also, another idea is possibly being able to add armor, and having the arms of your skin still appear. Also in LAN, realms, or servers, you can enter other player names. If there is a way, I am not aware of it. Also, adding mobs is a possible idea, but using this command is just as good:

    /summon (entityname) {NoAI:1,Silent:1}

    Also, do not type the parentheses with the command, they are not part of the command.

    This is a awesome idea, maybe you would put the skin URL in the armor stand or something, maybe it would also be able to hoke items and do poses like in bedrock, who knows?

    It would be really cool to be able to do this in survival as well in both Java and Bedrock. I have a suggestion on my profile detailing an "ancient altar" which could be a structure you can find where you can get a player head of your current skin in exchange for maybe another monster head or something. This could be crafted with an armor stand to make a player stand, i.e. "Steve Armor Stand", or on bedrock with pre made skins, just the name of the skin like "Stormtrooper Armor Stand". Would be such a fantastic way to decorate your world
