This is a bad idea. The threat of having your items despawn is part of the challenge of the game - otherwise there is no real punishment for dying.

If you really don't like the fact that items will despawn after death, then set the gamerule /KeepInventory to true, that way, you get to keep all of your items after you die.

i think that if they do think of adding this, your dead body would only stay there for ten minutes ONLY. have a good day.

If this is added, this huge cave I found with two skeleton spawners very close to each other will be over filled with bodies

That defeats the purpose of playing.

make them more actual so they they will collaps and have flesh and bones and go pail just like in real life and they would be remove by hitting them 3 times with a shovel and they will be lootable

That might be a little too morbid for Minecraft. On the other hand, it would make trekking back to grab your stuff a little less tedious. Not sure where I stand on this one.

Large amounts of deaths would start to cause lag if the items arent picked up.  /gamerule keepinventory true suits this better IMO

I agree the despawning needs to stop. Instead, the items should go to a nearby village, and you should have to do a little searching for them. A lot of time and effort does go into getting your stuff crafted,so by losing them is quite irritable and make me want to stop playing the game altogether.

I had 7 charged creepers in glass cages and a spider jockey in a glass cage that was cool to see everytime I went past em. I'd stop and tease them once in a while for amusement. They all despawned even ones with nametags. I didn't like that one little bit. I put a lot of work into capturing them,so the despawning needs to stop. I also lost a shulker box that despawned as I was collecting my items back ,and I only got back 2 items the rest despawned including my shulker box . Please stop the despawning...

If items wouldn't respawn chunks would be always loaded and that will increase your Framerate

There is a mod that makes a tombstone where you die. I think this feature would be super valuable. It only makes sense that your items would stay at the place where you die. It would be better than just having items stay around because that would cause lag. I think this could be a feature that is toggleable like starting chests.
