You can place two Furnaces next to each other to get a Fusion Forge; shift-placing them prevents them from connecting.
The Fusion Forge has two input slots, a fuel slot, and an output slot. This new addition would allow the player to combine different metals and materials to create new alloys which could be used for new branches in the progression of tools.
These textures are edits of the new new Furnace textures made by JAPPA and the Mojang art team.
An example of an alloy that could be introduced is Steel, which is made by combining an Iron Ingot/Ore and a piece of Coal in the Fusion Forge.
Steel tools and armor would have 502 durability points, which is double that of Iron equipment items. Steel would be a good optional tier between Iron and Diamond without actually replacing either. Diamond still has much more durability than Steel would, and Iron items are much quicker to make, as Steel requires an additional step.
Many more alloys can be introduced using items found in Minecraft; there could be alloys of Gold and Redstone Dust or Iron with Prismarine Crystals. These types of alloys could have special perks not found in enchantments and the armor sets could have unique abilities granted only when wearing a full suit. Players that want diversity in Minecraft's progression would love something like this.
