dying wool (was: Memory Contradiction)

I have been on almost every version to see if I have been missing something and so far I haven't seen what I knew to be in the game. The thing I remember being in the game was dying wool (or anything for that matter) was possible from every color to a different color. I don't see this around anymore and can't find the updates that used to include it. How can I be this bad at remembering something I used all the time to make my beds? Anyways, that's just what I remember being in the game and would like to see it put back in.

    You dye wool by crafting 1 white wool with any other dye...

    he means using coloured wool with another dye, to make a different coloured wool

    How was it worded weirdly? I said dying any color to a different color. Such as dying black to white or blue to red.

    I've seen this concept as a datapack (micro-mod) known as "Universal Dying". It let you do what you're suggesting and more. Like, it could do the same for any dyeable block like glass and concrete powder. And to remove the dye from an block, you would "dye" it with a block of ice? I think the logic is that ice is a sort of water source block. Like a water bucket without the bucket. Anyway, I also want this to be a feature in the vanilla game as it would increase creativity and would reduce wasted blocks. Voted!
