i would love it of the scorpion is bigger than a cave spider but smaller than a regular spider (excluding pincers and tail) it's basic design would be of that of the emperor scorpion

the scorpion mob drops raw scorpion as a new food source and drop it's stinger(10% chance drop) which can be used to make a new weapon: the whip! it can be used as a mid ranged weapon(8-11 blocks from player) that has a2.5% chance of afflicting poison on the enemy. it's crafting recipe consists of [stinger, string, stick and variable (wood, iron etc..)]. the stinger can be used in brewing to make potions of poison.

they are found in jungle, mesa and desert biomes every 1 out of 25 chunks. you can tame this mob by feeding it spider's eyes, raw frogs and raw chicken (and possible silverfish drop?). the scorpion can be used for keeping away bug like mobs (i.e. mobs afflicted by bane of arthropods enchantment) and would instantly attack all hostile mobs near the player.

there is also a rare spawn of scorpion: the sea scorpion! it is the same as the normal scorpion but rarer, eat fish and don't go on land, keeping away water-based hostile creatures that could possibly be added to the oceans and rivers of Minecraft and also don't drop stingers.

From reading some of the comments, plus what I was already thinking, I think Scorpions should (mostly) replace Spiders in the Desert, similar to Husks and Strays.

They would have 2 attacks, a hard hitting attack with their Pincers, and an attack with their Stinger that doesn't do much damage, but poisons the player.

They could be about the size of a Cave Spider, and have a tan-ish color so as to blend in with sand (maybe be more brown in Mesas?).

I also think they should spawn during the day (they'd spawn more in the night), but like Spiders would be neutral during the day, and hostile at night.

Just as fish swim in the water, scorpions swim in the sand. This is the great differential of this mob for the others. He injects poison into the player and runs away, swimming through the sand and repeating the cycle.

I think this mob should be added in conjunction with a major future desert update (desert temple or mantion, mummies, snakes, etc.).

Maybe Scorpion would drop thorns. Thorns could be used to brew the potion of Poison. Thorns can be used to craft Ground Spikes.

The crafting recipe would look like this:

    E    E    E

    T    T    T

    W   W   W

    E = Empty, T = Thorns, W = Any kind of wood planks.

Anything that walks on Ground Spikes would get 2 health point off every second.

Ground Spikes could be joined with a slime ball to make Slimy Ground Spikes. They would do the same work as normal Ground Spikes, but would slow the mob' s walking speed to the same speed as the same mob walking on soul sand. That would give Scorpions a use.

I think it would be quite interesting if it had a rare stinger drop that you could use to make a spear that could poison enemies. It could also have special enchantments that could make it do more poison damage or an enchant have a low chance to summon a scorpion on attack that would damage enemies and despawn after a few seconds

They should drop Shells which you can craft into armor which will give you poison resistance. Maybe Also weapons that give a poison effect for a second or 2

I think that the scorpion should be the desert variant of the spider. Spiders wouldn’t spawn in deserts anymore only the scorpions would and when they attack you they would poison you or would have a chance of poisoning you

I think should be added to the mesa.

Love the idea, but scorpions would basically be a remodel of a spider in the desert. unless they have a specific drop/ability that is eye catching, they basically would have the same use as Husks*.

    * (I mean, a retextured zombie got added into the game, why not Scorpions?) ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

idkSomedude6455 It's not constructive to just call new mob ideas a "retexture". Scorpions could have longer reach and inflict poison when stinging you, making them challenging.

Scorpions as a desert and badlands hostile mob will make Bane of Arthropods much more useful, and will make these biomes more unique!

As many pointed here, they should be the counter art of the spider on the deserts but, i think they should be like this:

Neutral during the day but attack when the player is too close to them

During the day but rare to encounter and some what slow but must be very active during nigths, since many desert animals are active during nigths to avoid die from over exposure of the sun, this will make sense

They should hunt rabbits and spiders

They could spawn not only in desserts and mesa but also in the abandon mine shafts and caves of this 2 biomes

Would drop poison glands and used to make poisons that the player could use in their weapons

This is what i think could make the scorpions a very interesting mob for the game, sorry if i have some gramar errors, im practicing my english

This would be a great idea if they dropped time sort a venom that could be put of armor ( to harm the wear) this could be used in jokes against friends. This venom could also be put on weapons to apply a poison affect until cured by a special potion that makes you immune to the scorpion poison for a time or milk. Another drop could be their corpse which could be used to make armor or weapons or as said by other people put on walls to be displayed. The corpse could also be eaten which would refill a small amount of the hunger bar say a chance between 1/2 to 1 hunger icons.

Good idea but be more descriptive. They should be catchable by a bucket with no water. They should have the emperor scorpions and the more venomous scorpions. They should have different stats to

I feel like scorpions can be the wolves of the desert. When hit, any surrounding scorpions will help attack the player. They can also be tamed and fight for you by inflicting poison on the opponent.

I think it would be nice if the scorpion had a small chance of dropping its sting. You could then use 6 of them with a bottle in a crafting table to get a bottle of scorpion poison. You could then infuse one of your swords with the poison (by putting the sword and the bottle in a crafting table, or in a cauldron, or even using a new block that allows sword infusion and this mechanic could be used in other ways). Your sword would then give a poison effect to any entity you hit, except poison immune entities.

While many have mentioned the idea of essentially having scorpions as dessert counterparts for spiders and I am in favor of that, none the less I believe it would be nice to have a smaller version as well that is less aggressive and yet will still attack and sting any players that make the mistake of cornering or touching it before fleeing.

I don't think anybody else needs to comment that they give you poison, because that is the most obvious thing about it.

Ooooh they could be neutral and maybe glow in the dark (like in real life when under UV light), and maybe they could attack spiders and silverfish. Maybe if it's tamable, you could put a saddle on it, or maybe get potions of poison like milk from cows/goats. maybe there could also be a hostile nether variant in the nether wastes that sets you on fire? If tamable it would probably be tamed with spider eyes, tadpoles, fish (in a bucket or raw), raw chicken and/or raw rabbit. Realistically Axolotls would be eaten too but they're adorable and endangered so I'mma say no to that.

As long as it follows the design used for the spider (fantasy, giant, hostile at night), I think that would be a really cool thing to add. A few ideas to integrate:

    - Make it a tanky mob with high health and armor, thus making Bane of Arthropods more useful;
    - It can both melee attack and use it's stinger. The stinger is really slow (1 attack each 3 seconds), but has more reach, does massive damage and gives poison (melee attack does not give poison). The player can dodge the stinger attack.
    - The scorpion drops shards of it's carapace that can be used to make either tough armor or shields, that is up to the devs to decide.

I'd love scorpions as a mini boss for new enhanced desert temples. They would attack causing poison and  would drop their sting with XP.

The sting could be used to imbue swords, axes, tools with poison (add a new workstation for this interaction) so they give a permanent poison effect.
