We have bees, so maybe bees wax and string together would make a candle? You could probably dye it as well.

They should be crafted using honey/wax

maybe they can be crafted by using wax obtained from bee hives?

I think that the best way to implement it would be to add a new drop to pigs so that they have a use other than meat, this is because with 1.15, adding another thing to get from beehives/nests would be a bad idea, because that would bring it to three, which I think is too many things from one resource

    EDIT:

Also, beeswax is what honeycombs are made of in real life.

well i've got this idea too, here is some concepts i made in the game changing the textures of the seapickles, i really love the idea, hope this help to introduce to mojang the candles

Maybe they could be used for summoning ghosts

I was making a haunted mansion so I like this. The crafting recipe should be wax (something that makes it) and a torch and add dyes to change color.

Bees Wax needs to be readded so we can use that for candles plus this gives us the excuse to finally have a "Wax Block" be re-added fully to the game instead of it just being a texture in the game files that was removed.

The Wax block could be the opposite of the Honey block and be similar to Ice letting entities colliding with it to make them slide down and gain speed the opposite direction could be true if using an elytra and taking off going upwards.

This cool feature on being extra slippery should be added to BLUE ICE as well but not all ice blocks so that Blue ice is still the most useful ice block and rare.

I thought of this idea a few days back with my brother! He was the one to suggest Candles, and at first I was a bit skeptical, but when I realized they could act as an above ground version of Sea Pickles, I started to really like the idea!

And now Bees are in the game, maybe you could get Beeswax from smelting Honeycombs or something like that.

I hope the candle's recipe is honey and torch.

With the addition of new hive honey combs could be smelter down to bee wax then all it would take is bee wax and string to make a candle additionally adding soul sand to this recipe could make a soul fire candle

This could be revistied! With the newly added Honeycomb, you could make "Beeswax Candles" just another decorative item, there could even be dyed candles! Imagine all the different colors you could make"

This should’ve been added from the start of the game. We really need candles.

I'd like it if they were craftable with wax you get from beehives. Wax + torch = candle, and you could stack them in groups in the same square the way you do sea pickles.

It'd be cool if you could dye them, too.

Candles could be create by harvesting bee's wax from a bee and combining it with a stick to make a candle

This needs more votes. Candles would add so much atmosphere to builds.

    Beeswax + string = candle

I agree, and with the addition of bees the implementation of wax would be incredibly easy

I would think a candle would be crafted with wax, which you could make with honeycombs and string (the wick) and dye it with regular dyes. and then you could light it with a flint and steel

It would be cool if candles in your hand would emit light. Idk why torches wouldn't do that and candles would, but it will make a difference between them and there will be a reason to craft candles (which are more expensive, I really like the idea of ClayGoddessSari that they should be crafted with beewax).

    Beeswax candles

I observed that in Minecraft Dungeon there are candles and candlesticks, I would love to be able to craft candles with beeswax; and being able to choose the lighting color with the colors available in the game (it would be too beautiful for Minecraft RTX).

    Crafting Method:
-Melt the honeycomb in an oven, or some other method.
-Use the melted wax + dye to make the candle
    -Thread

Once created, it can be put somewhere, and with the lighter ignite.

Crafted from two honeycomb and a string

Candles light just like sea pickles (6, 9, 12, 15), but in air rather than in water.

1 honeycomb + 1 string = 4 candles (Honeycomb needs another use imo, no need to smelt into wax unless wax would have an additional use. Idk why people are suggesting torch in the recipe, since those are made from coal and sticks, which have nothing to do with candles.)

    8 candles + 1 dye = colored candles

4 candles + 1 iron ingot = candelabra (light level 15, can stand or hang like lantern)

2 candles + 1 bowl = floating candle (light level 9, can be placed on top of water like a lily pad, or on top of leaves)

Scented candles idk, sounds like a lot of additional design and coding to make work.

Enchanted candles that repel mobs would be really cool and it would be so cool to see what things could be done with that.

I agree with candles being crafted with beeswax and string, and being dyeable, but I think they should just be a normal light source block. Having to place 4 candles in a single space to light an area would be pretty annoying. What if I just wanted one candle in a space?

I'm glad it wasn't just me who thought about such a simple idea. Mojang pretty much already has the code to implement it.
I think candles would be a great way to give honeycombs some use. Maybe by combining a string, a honeycomb and dye of choice, you could craft 4 candles? Or maybe there could be a way to extract wax from honeycombs?
