Giraffes

Giraffes would be the tallest animal in the overworld at 4.5 blocks tall and babies at 2.5 blocks tall. They can be breed with leaves and spawn in the savanna. If killed they drop 2-4 pieces of leather.

    Nice, but make the adult Giraffes 4 blocks tall would make more sense.

    I like the idea, but 2 blocks in hight for giraffes would be way too small. Realistically, they should be up to 7 times the size of the average man. 10 blocks in hight would be the minimum hight, but even that would still be noticeably too small for a giraffe.

    I had a similar idea and here are my suggestions:

    Giraffes are bred using Baobab leaves but can eat any type of leaves to regain lost health. They have randomized stats like horses do.

    The player tames giraffes in the same way he or she tames horses. Giraffes can wear saddles, but cannot wear horse armor or chests. They cannot jump but can walk up one-block-tall walls like horses can.

    While riding a giraffe, the distance from which you can mine blocks is doubled. Perfect for chopping down the topmost tree logs that always seem to be just out of reach!

    A giraffe would be a great idea. Savanna biomes currently do not feel like a real African savanna at all with its current mobs. The planned ostrich and termites will definitely help but I still feel that the savanna can use more work. A giraffe would be perfect to fill that role. They are one of the most iconic savanna animals and are in general one of the most beloved animals out there.

    YES PLEASE. Giraffes would fit in the desert / savane
    and if you could ride them that would be great.
    They could carry more than horses or you could ride on them with several players.

    Each block is a meter and a giraffes maximum height is 6 meters I believe so I’d say 6 blocks should be the height of a fully grown giraffe and for the baby I’d say that’s an okay height. Apart from that it’s a good suggestion.

    I agree but the adult should be 6 blocks tall because giraffes in the normal world are very tall so 4.5 blocks would be way to small.

    I think it would be cool to give giraffes a greater use like after taming them u can climb their neck to get to higher places. Doesn't necessarily make sense but neither does minecraft.

    I justw ant to say this idea is awesome. The savanna in my opinion needs more cool mobs and giraffes are pretty cool creatures. Also it would be cool to see them walk around with their long necks.

    You shouldn't be able to ride giraffes and they should only be fed acacia leaves , since in real life you can't feed them oak or spruce leaves for example. They shouldn't drop leather and must kick the player with it's hind legs when being agitated.

    Giraffes shouldn't be rideable. IRL I think their backs would be too arched to place a saddle on (not to mention that'd be just a bad idea in general IRL). They can also be extremely dangerous if provoked. Though being able to tame them is a reasonable idea.

    I dont think giraffes should be tameable or rideable. They are wild animals, like dolphins, and we cannot ride those. However, much like dolphins, we should get a cool effect if we befriend the giraffe with the new trust mechanic. I think it would be cool if getting a giraffe to trust us gives us a buff to our mining reach for a time, allowing us to mine one or maybe even two blocks further than we are normally capable of. This would allow us to more easily get all the wood from the tops of trees, and more safely mine ores in caves for a limited duration. This would also fit the giraffe thematically as its height allows it to reach higher than other creatures.

    IRL giraffes are about 18 feet tall which is equal to about 5.5 blocks.

    Whenever I think of a real-world animal to be added, I weirdly default to the giraffe. 

    I always imagine them having a specific use, that use being a ladder/staircase, sorta. Whether the ability requires taming, temporary taming, or can just simply be done, The giraffe could be led and made to stand in one place while the player can climb it's 4-6 block tall neck to then jump off it's head to a tall tree so you could finish chopping its upper logs or a cliffside to traverse. In that sense, I love the concept of temporary taming or just being able to do as such naturally to give a fun, dynamic and unique tool for early game savanah players. Would also be nice if you could then, while it's made to stand still as you use it's neck, be able to stand on its head, working as an interesting watch/archer tower.

    Giraffes would be an amazing addition to the Savannah biome and make it feel like an actual African plane. As someone who’s seen a giraffe in person they’re such beautiful animals and we should definitely show them some love by adding them to Minecraft to make Savannah’s more interesting and filled with life!

    Me and my friend are making a zoo and giraffes would complete it
