Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Shou-Sugi-Ban Wood!

Throw a Wood Plank block into the upper portion of a furnace.  It would produce a Scorched Plank Block ... or Shou Sugi Ban wood.

Enter "Shou Sugi Ban" into a Google Image Search.  It's a technique of charring/burning wood planks to get a unique look.  The results are often eye popping.

One issue is that wood planks build a variety of things in Minecraft.  I would suggest that Scorched Planks can NOT create fences, plates, etc.  The only thing you could create is the plank itself.  Or, perhaps game developers might like the idea of Scorched Doors, Fences, etc.

    Reordered the words above, but it's the same concept with no changes.

    An additional thought I had on this would be the ability to throw the Scorched block into the furnace an additional time.  This would result in a Charred block that would be the same block despite the wood type used.  Completely black wood planks.

    I was thinking of being able to set a tree on fire than break the blocks as they  were burning . But I think your idea is even better
