I don’t care how it works, I just want it to look better

This should be a game rule and when you summon lightning with a command you should be able to write something like [seekmetal=true] or [seekmetal=false]

I do like the idea of it striking metal like it does in real life, but I also had an idea to expand upon your post. :)

I was thinking maybe they should also do different types of lightning like cloud to air and cloud to cloud. There should also be some changes to thunder, such as if you see lightning strike far away, there would be a delay by about 5-10 seconds until you hear it.

I've seen plenty of thunderstorms and I think that would make them way more immersive within minecraft.

I think that it’s a good idea but it should only MOSTLY hit the highest point because lightning doesn’t always hit the highest point.

If we're going into lightning, i think if lightning doesn't hit metal it should cause a lot of destruction. if it does, it should carry along the metal and kill anyone on that metal.

They are adding lightning rods, so that should solve part of the problem.

Now in the caves and cliffs update, there are lightning rods. Surely that rule would make them of no use?

When they never add copper armour in, it could charge up and get a thorns/channeling type effect when struck by lightning . The next mob/player to damage the player wearing the charged armour would take damage like that of a lightning strike

Lightning should do like 7.5 hearts because Lightning now is kinda weak.

In Addition to that lightning could also make more damage. In reallife im pretty Sure you will die If you get stucked by lightning

tbh I think that the way it works in the latest version is good lighting can strike anywhere unless there is a lightning rod

Honestly I think it’s particular from the simplistic design of of Minecraft. Now I do think Minecraft is dual and could have benefit from adding more details in color and uniqueness to it. But I think if we were to go really realistic, a little bit more realistic on a design scale, it would lose its value.
