Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I would suggest a "rainbow" block that has to be named with the players own name in an anvil. Crafting recipe would be: 1 diamond block, one iron block, one emerald block, one gold block, one redstone block, one coal block, one lapislazuli block, one quarz block. In the center could be something more expensive, like a netherstar. If the player places the named rainbow block, the 16*16 area (1 chunk) that this rainbow block is placed in, is claimed. It can not be placed into chunks that already have been claimed. This block would be the only block that CAN be destroyed by other players, so the owner of the block has to protect it by building other blocks around it. If destroyed (creeper explosion, tnt, other) or harvested, a regular unnamed rainbow block is dropped, and the claim is revoked. If the named rainbow block is dropped, it looses its naming, and instead a regular, unnamed rainbow is dropped. They can not be used inside an area of +-1000 blocks around the spawn (this would discourage new players). This "claim-free" area width could be defined by a command. A player can craft and place/claim as much as 16 named rainbow blocks by standard. There could be a server command to re-define this amount. On re-definition with a value lower than the previous value, all claimed chunks are unclaimed, and all existant placed named diamond blocks become regular diamond blocks. The players will have to re-claim their territory after such a re-definition.

The recipe of such a block would be found in a book in dungeons, as described in following post:

The effect of this protection would be a minecraft secret. It could be put into a secret book:

Totally agree. Why is this still not a thing?
    Espically for realms servers.

Generally, for pc/java servers we already have several great options such as greifprevention or factions or towny or kingdoms... Ect.

But realms..? It would be great for realms.

Perhaps something. A bit more akin to protection stones plugin. (Defunct plugin)

For instance.. 1 emerald block creates a protection area of 16 blocks.

But.. 8 emerald blocks creates an area of 64 blocks.

    But only surface to sky.
If a player wants to protect anything say..past 5 blocks underhim he would have to create another proection block from say... Gold or lapis blocks.
And that would protect all the way to bedrock to sky.

Allow the player to define what he wants.. Like.. Add a friend to crops, or open doors.. Ect.

I want this, because will help a lot of users in multiplayer.

It's like the reclaim block from "7 days to die". Has a % of degradation if the user not access To the server in few days, the block will get useless.

I suggest adding a feature to the land claim block. Each Minecraft player could only put down one claim block and the land claim block would not only show the chunk border but also keep the chunk active no matter where a player is in the game. This land claim block could be moved only by the player who placed it but could also be used to identify chunks for chunk aligning Redstone contraptions and farms
