This option would suit many imagnitive players who prefer the night. Players who choose to sleep during the day could skip to night time.

It could be used to heal your health/hunger

If this does happen it should make time pass but not until night

They should just add a 'vote to skip night' button above the 'leave bed' button. So the mechanic would be like if a player clicked the vote skip button or whatever it's called, it would add 1 vote out of the number of players online. The night will be skipped if all player voted to skip. This way, all player can lay on bed without skipping the night and maybe enable the lay on bed action at day but without the vote button (or maybe just add it too so players can skip the day). And if there's only one player online, it would be 1 vote out of 1 (number of player online, which currently there's only one) needed. The vote progress (or whatever) will be showed in the chat but that could turn into a spam so maybe show it like the text when you play a music disc (on top of the hotbar).

This way, old features (like the all player must sleep to skip the night) will still be there while adding more options for players.

Or it speeds time up a bit but depletes hunger faster

This would be great to roleplay with friends!

Possibly sleeping during the day will let you wake up during the night to continue fighting mobs outside :D

Yes, there should also be an option to sleep on the floor wherever you are. Maybe it takes longer to get to sleep, so it is not always the best option?

Good idea, just adding onto that, it should have the option where anyone can lay down in multiplayer when the others aren't in bed.

Instead of just lying down and doing nothing this should regenerate health and make you walk/sprint a small amount faster after getting up

This could result in full health and a speed boost because your player is now fully rested. This would be a good implementation for role play servers as well.

Sounds pretty useful for immersive reasons but otherwise not the most helpful

Yes. Currently we can't respond link to a bed unless we sleep at night. This is annoying. There should be option to respond link in day

I love this idea, and I actually had it the other night. I thought that it would be useful so that you wouldn't have to wait for night if you needed to kill monsters, spawn-proof an area, or for any other reason. I was also thinking that if you went to bed at a certain time it would go to the opposite, for example:
Goes to bed at sunrise, wakes up at sunset
Goes to bed at midday, wakes up at midnight

And the laying down without sleeping part would be super useful for roleplays-- or if you need to be afk while waiting for/doing something, I imagine it could also make regeneration go by faster--
    Love this idea! ^^

Advancement "Lazy": sleep a whole Minecraft day!

I know this could be a fun unique little touch, however I would actually find this rather disappointing. I think of the fun unique things about Minecraft is that you can’t sleep unless it’s night or if there are no mobs nearby. I think if we were able to do that maybe it would take away from the feeling of having to work through the day. Honestly I think it’s one of the features in a game that when you stop and you look from an outside angle it can be quite Special and unique. If we were to change the fact that you can only sleep at night I think it would take away from a nostalgic part about this game. And his game has been around for a very long time and I think it has nostalgia for most everyone who plays it. And I think that would take away a piece of the nostalgia

I suggest that you can sleep any time of the day, and instead of of skipping time, it speeds up time by a factor of 10.

Great idea! It could be a way to accelerate the in game time by perhaps a 7.5 minute cycle (sunset to sunrise/ sunrise to sunset). Could be done even in multiplayer as long as all players in the session are in bed at the same time.

This could be helpful for mob farming, speeding up the seasonal clock* (see seasons post) or just desiring to progress the time cycle forward.

-Slight tangent- this could also introduce a time gameplay element to Minecraft, where a time machine could be built and be able to have a certain day inputed to be taken back to. (Which the game would keep track of from the beginning of this "time update" if the game doesn't already somehow memorize entire states or track time). Since Minecraft mostly autosaves now and there's no way to turn it off, this could be a great way to revisit destroyed structures or bring back the dead (if named with a nametag), and undo whatever the players wished. It wouldn't have to be too complex at first, and I mean that as if it wouldn't need to track the position of every mob (unless maybe they were named with a nametag). Just mostly block placement and world states over time.

How about you would click and bring up a menu to determine how long you sleep for also you definitely should be able to sleep during the day and would restore your health

Although it might be a good thing I feel like it's been a thing for so long and it'd feel very modded if you changed it, after all, don't mine at night (there are mods you can probably use if you want to do bits or rp or something)

I support. It will help with role playing and hostile mob farming (without phantoms)

What I would do is sleep during the day and wake up at night so I can hunt hostile mobs or make some farms.

This would make the game more immersive but there has to me a limit to the time that you’re on the bed
