Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Bat pelts (was: Bats are useful)

Make bats drop bat pelt when killed and use it for a night vision cap giving you night vision when below y=34

    I like the creativity and usefulness of the idea, but why limit the night vision to below y=34?

    I wonder what the drop rate of this pelt would be, and how many you would need to craft the cap?  I would think it would have similar protection value and durability as leather armor.  It being able to break seems to me like a better weakness than limiting the y level where it works.

    Maybe with the cap, instead of making it like a regular helmet, it could be a hood? You would use 8 pelt in the recipe to make a chest, then the hood would grant you night vision, but the durability would be low.

    Another idea is maybe be able to make boots using the pelts? The boots would have the ability to give the player slow fall, at the expense of durability at jump, which makes you want to only use the boots in dire situations, like a horde of mobs you can't fight off because your sword broke? You could also have another item to have to craft the boots with, to make it more expensive so it isn't abused?

    I'd be all for this idea if bats actually had night vision. Most bats are basically blind and use echolocation, not sight.

    I think night vision cap is very very great idea!

    But I want that we can make the cap into different item like leather/potion
