Are you sure you want to report this?

Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

I took your idea and added more detail into it... If you want to look at it the idea is in the profile.

PS I got your idea before I saw your form. XD. Great minds think a like?

Way too op.  Putting them in a nether fortress doesn’t help.

I think that this could work. To nerf them enough, make them an item that doesn’t just require 3 precious blocks, but 5. In addition to that, make the mining speed slower than the pickaxe one notch down. (Eg dia hammer mines slightly slower than iron pickaxe.) in addition, hammers could mine at the mining level of the tool below them (e.g. dia hammer can’t mine obsidian or netherite.) While adding hammers may seem way too OP, I think that making them expensive and making them a poor mining tool would sufficiently nerf them into a space-clearer.

The icon or texture for the hammer could be the same one they have on anvils.

Maybe one way to make them less overpowered could be to make the crafting recipe not five, but six of the selected material in a sign or banner position. Obviously, they would also mine slower and have a cool down timer on them.

They could also mine glass faster.

Hammers have been present in the game since the beginning (crafting table texture) and nowadays is being presented again in 2 new textures (smithing table outside texture and GUI texture) that's the reason I have to says that is logical to have the hammers as a permanent tool/weapon.

-Tool usage 1: Right clicking stones to make "cracked" variants of stones, smelting stones doesn´t make much sense

-Tool usage 2: Hammers should be the prefered tool to break glass faster. Of course silk touch could be added.

-Weapon: It could be a mix of melee and mid range weapon.

-Enchantments: Normal tool enchants & Loyalty. Earthquake, aiming the hammer to the floor or entity feet shoukd shake them. Thor´s shock: hitting an entity shocks them and their nearby allies.

Hammers would be great to add to the game, I know Jeb has said on his MC game design book, "1 block at time" (like you shouldn't be able to mine multiple blocks at once), but I have a workaround for that. First it should be 2x2, and you shouldn't get the blocks mined. It would also mine very quickly. This would be great because things like strip mining are so boring and slow, and doesn't bring any fun to the game. So this hammer idea would really help, especially if you don't need all the blocks you're mining (usually stone) and prevents an inevitable full inventory issue. Plus, it brings strategy to mining. You have a choice to either mine and get all the blocks when tunneling very slowly and inefficiently, or you use a hammer that mines efficiently, but you don't get the drops, and you can then use your pickaxe on the actual ores. It shouldn't even count against the "1 block at a time" rule because with this hammer idea, you aren't mining the blocks... you're destroying them. It's kind of like a more controlled version of a TNT tactic.

For my hammer idea, if 2x2 mining won't happen even just for destroying blocks, then I have an alternative way. Instead, each next block you break as long as its next to the previous broken block in any direction (basically in a 3x3x3 area of the previous broken block in the center), it will mine faster, of course with a speed limit at some point & you would have to keep mining in order to continue mining faster. I got this idea similar to 1 that Cam@MinecraftAbormals had for alternatives for vein mining, which was an enchantment that broke blocks faster if it was the same type of block as you previously had broken. Really cool idea. That way, it's still 1 block at a time.

Maybe mining 3x3 is kinda redundant since you can insta-mine pretty much everything with beacons and enchanted netherite (currently not deepslate - but I think they'll come up with something) and already existing in mods so I have a better idea: how about it crack stone bricks, blackstone and other cracked varients when it breaks said block? Maybe it can grind down cobble to gravel and gravel to sand, concrete back to powder and so on. May be used as a weapon too? Similar to axes but with it's own individuality (I'm sure Mojang would come up with something interesting)

mojang wont add anything that can interact with multiple blocks at once
