Freeze to death.

I've had an idea for a long time now, it would be cool if you could freeze to death.

Just like the bubbles when you are underwater, there should be some sort of snowflake that works the same way as the bubbles, but in the colder biomes, one thing that you can do to prevent freezing is to wear leather clothes.

    Leather clothing, or maybe even clothing made out of wool.

    And stand around a fire or lava

    Very cool idea, you could wear leather or they could implement wool clothing, or if you stand near fire or lava

    Blizzards in the new mountains could be analogous to thunder in other biomes. The freezing would set in as soon as the blizzard starts.
