Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

maybe the rubies can be a currency to a new mob to trade with for magic equipment like currency in Minecraft earth but different.

And now that Ores are colourblind friendly, we can re-add then for 1.17! I think the reason they were never added was because one of the developers was colourblind and couldn't tell the difference between Ruby Ore and Redstone Ore. A good idea!

They Do Have No Reason why this cant be added because even if someone is colour blind there changing the ore texture to fix that problem so now there is no reason that ruby's can't be added

maybe if emeralds are like 5 dollar bills rubies should be worth about 10 dollar bills

My favorite color is red too! And if rubies were added, maybe Morshu would play the game.

The developers created rubies as a currency for the (at the time) new trading system, but somebody by the name of Dinnerbone was colorblind and could not tell which ore was redstone and which ore was rubies, so they removed it and emeralds that we know today took its place. If we ever added rubies back there will be 3 problems, 1. Dinnerbone will still have the same problem, 2. We already have a currency so 2 currency's does not make sense frankly, and 3. We cant just add ANOTHER armor set to the game, we already added Netherite so I think rubies would be almost pointless.

No one realized these main problems so I just wanted to point that out :)

It would be very good if the villagers also had trade with the rubies.

ruby ore is confused to redstone ore if u like red use redstone dust like rubys on item frames and blocks of redstone as ruby blocks

The 'rubies' could be something that could make items have a higher 'enchant ability'  or give weapons and tools a unique ability such as a mystacal 'blast' like Blockixel Artistry's concepts for Minecraft.

thanks for reading this idea by Levi

I feel like rubies should replace the old stadus of emeralds because emerald ore is rare but emeralds are not w/ a good trade set up

This could be used to add one or two rubies to armor for pure ascetics.  Other uses...  not sure.  If this doesn't get uses this shouldn't be an idea.

I think this is a good idea they could be used in place of lapis in the enchantment table and they already have copper or that looks a lot like iron ore so they can't say anything about it looking the same as redstone ore.

Maybe rubies can also be used with trading maybe one Ruby equal 3 emeralds.

I would like to see ruby added back:

    Economy

(Relatively) vanilla servers such as Hermitcraft or simply private ones instinctively use diamonds as a player currency because it's a non-farmable, less frequent item, but still frequent enough that it's viable to collect a bunch of them. I also think diamond is used because it's a precious stone, and in our imaginary it's easy to think of gems as currency.

So why add ruby, when diamond works perfectly?! Ruby could provide an alternative to diamond and thus giving players the liberty to customise their currency further and without add-ons. We could see rp/smp servers where different people(s) use different currencies. New rp dynamics could appear, for example converting from the one to the other or having currencies that change value over time (which already is the case with diamond, but having ruby will make the dynamic more obvious and complex).

We can also not make ruby and diamond equivalent, distribution-wise. That could entice players to use both gems for a single economy. If ruby is rarer, it could help big servers to condense their currency if inflation occurs (just look at Hermicraft or real life haha). In order for it to be a good currency, its outside uses should stay limited. A cosmetic use is ok. I say this because I can get frustrated when I need to use my currency (diamonds) for armours, tools etc.

Beyond the nostalig aspect of ruby, its use as currency would be unique (beside diamonds) and add complexity to rp/smp's.
