I always figured many of the nonhumanoid mob sounds (cow, pig, sheep, ghast) were dev team members' own voices anyway.

Goats can be used for many things in real life, so it has a lot of potential in Minecraft. I've seen suggestions for meat, leather, milk, and wool, but wanted to add that they would make a good pack animal, similar to how llamas are.

If goats are put in they should eat everything that is dropped on the ground. I can see how that would be both helpful (for disposal of unwanted objects) and annoying (when you drop something important. I think that would be pretty funny.

We should be able to milk goats, get their milk, place it in a furnace, and get goat cheese! I know that's not entirely how it works, but you do curdle the milk. Maybe goats could eat leather and leather items in trade for EXP?

Goats should be milked with a bottle, and the bottle should be able to be turned into a splash potion of milk

I like the idea of goats coming to Minecraft and think they will add a nice amount of life to the mountain biomes. That being said I think there are some essential things I would expect to see if goats come to Minecraft.

Like many of the new Mobs I hope to see unique mannerisms like eating, sleeping, Etc... in addition to that goats of many unique mannerisms of their own in real life that I would love to see implemented in their design.

Head-butting: a goat may head but other goats and it's herd and if tamed May headbutt the player. This causes no damage to the player but is more of a friendly gesture or greeting.

Screaming: if a hostile mob is nearby a goat will scream causing all nearby goats to faint or run away.

Fainting: if a goat is attacked by a hostile mob or by the player it has a chance to faint. Essentially it would perform a death animation but the body would not disappear, nor would it award XP or loot. Hostile Mobs will lose interest in a fainted goat and will withdraw, once the enemy is at a safe distance the goat will then stand up and resume its daily routine. Goats may also faint if a player runs up to them from behind, fireworks go off, TNT blows up nearby, or anything considerably startling happens.

Goats like sheep have lived alongside mankind for thousands of years, they are believed to be among the first animals humanity domesticated. Thus I think goats should be tameable via bells, when a goat is tamed using a bell it will cause a small to appear around their neck on a collar. This bell can be heard jingling from a small distance away that way the owner of the goat always knows where their goat is. Also when tamed goats take on their own unique skin, skin to those of domesticated goats.

If interacted with using an empty bucket goats will give milk, which through some process (idk how Mojang would want to do that) could be made into cheese.

If killed goats should have a chance to drop wool and/or leather, horns, and one or two legs of goat meat.

Goats should be difficult to pursue, being faster the sheep and able to scale high or shear mountain sides just like their real world counterparts. Maybe jumping 2 or 3 times higher than other mobs and less likely to take fall damage.

Goat should spawn in small groups or pairs (as they exist naturally in the wild) and I think should have at least three or four natural variants either white, brown, grey, or black just like sheep, with darker colors being rarer and each goat dropping the same color wool as its fur.

If attacked by a mob or the player and a goat doesn't faint it could also have the option to fight back using a charge or head butt attack that has a chance to push the attacker back. If the goat is on the loses enough HP it will simply flee back to the nearest cliff or mountain side and find a nice safe spot to sit where it's difficult to reach and away from danger.

Sure. Goats. But they are just like wolves so with the horn, they might attack with the horns.

Nibbling is a behavior I would like to see implemented! Goats don't actually eat everything, but they do nibble on interesting things as a way of exploring. I've had goats nibble on my hair, clothes, and fingers, and have seen one nibble on a chicken's tail feathers (the chicken was not very happy afterwards). I think nibbling behavior would be a fun, true to life addition to goats.

If goats are added, they should be a neutral mob. That way, when you hit them, they will come up and head butt you.

Goats can provide more food items like, goat milk and meat. Their fur can be dropped and could be crafted into wool or be used to make fur armour. Fur armour could be useless but adds something different to the game. The goats could eat any vegetables or plant including seeds. They could charge if they have a baby or if you hit them. They also could spawn within the taiga, spruce forests or mountains.

Goats should spawn in forests and extreme hills. You should be able to ride them up vertical slopes.(2-3 blocks high) you should also be able to milk them like cows and get wool from them. Goats should ram you when they get mad and run away when you come near but you should be able to tame them so that they don’t.

Some things that could be crafted with goat drops:

    • Cornucopia: Crafted with three goat horns in a bowl shape with a golden nugget inside, this is an RNG food source. When right-clicked, it uses up one of 64 durability points and gives one of any of the various non-prepared/cooked edibles, allowing players to get that berry farm started or straight-up give them a poisonous potato.
    • Horn Fishing Rod/Bow/Crossbow: More durable versions of the stick-and-string implements, these have twice their durability. To balance this, the bow and crossbow can take 6.75% longer to draw. A small nod to the Urgal Horn Bows of the Inheritance Cycle.
    • Putting Goat Milk or Cow Milk in a Cauldron and letting it sit for a few days will create Goat or Cottage Cheese, respectively.
    • Four Goat Fur could create one Goat Wool, which would use the more muted pre-1.12 colors.

Someone above suggested using Goat Milk in "milk potions", so this is how it could work (If this should be a separate post, please remove this):

    • There are two types of milk potions: Cow Milk (good) and Goat Milk (bad). When they are consumed directly after being drawn from a cauldron in bottles, Cow Milk removes all bad effects whilst Goat Milk removes all good effects.
    • Like regular Potions, the Milk Potions utilize the brewing stand and Nether Wart in their brewing along with the standard potion recipes. (Pasteurization - bonus!) Using a Fermented Spider Eye swaps the type from Cow to Goat and vice versa.
    • There is also a Milk made by brewing Cocoa Beans without the Netherwart: Chocolate Milk/Hot Cocoa! This will give the player Saturation with Cow Milk and Hunger with Goat Milk since chocolate milk IRL is a good post-workout drink.
    • When drunk, a Cow Potion removes all bad effects and gives the one in the potion, while Goat Potions do the opposite, removing all good effects and giving the bad one. (Invisibility is exempt from this, despite being a Goat Potion.)

Goat Crafting: Definitely cheese.  Goat wool higher level w villagers than sheep wool. Goat meat plus potatoes plus hot peppers (we need hot peppers) = curry which should have a buff, like see in the dark & run fast for two minutes or something.  There should be a visual effect like smoke or steam.

Can you add Pygmy goats if you do add goats? It might be difficult because you would have to make them look a bit different to the baby goat but I think you can do it!

Maybe when you tame the goats they can have a collar like the cats and dogs do.

Oh! I have an idea of how we can make the goats and Pygmy goats different! The goats can have plain fur and Pygmy goats can have spotted fur.

    I love goats!! 🐐
