Emerald armor & weapons (was: Emerald Weapons)

I think it would be cool if there was emerald weapons and armor. Its weapon strength should be in the middle of wood and gold. Its armor protection should be in the middle of leather and gold.

    For everyone saying how rare emeralds are, keep in mind that you can get a lot of emerald from trading with villagers

    I think this is an astounding idea!

    My only though is that, while yes you can trade for emeralds, emeralds are semi rare, only found in mountains

    So the tools and armor should have iron or diamond durability, and its speed and damage should equal stone or gold

    i think it should have some special things !? .. i mean getting iron armor is so easy .. and i dont think we need anything in between .. 
    so my idea is : emerald equipment will be special .. they're maybe a little weaker than iron .. but they have special things .. maybe the pickaxe should give the ingot ( iron & gold ) .. maybe the sword have a special area of effect attack !? .. making the axe can be thrown like a trident ( but alot weaker obviously ) ,, so not making them strong .. but special .. 
    we dont have any anti knockback enchantment of effect .. maybe emerald armor does that .. how about it gives u extra speed or jumping ability !? .. 
    summary : emerald armor & weapons are weaker than iron but gives some special functionality & tweaks and will make them usefull
    ( last suggestion : emerald armor gives u protection / attack advantages while fighting illagers )

    I agree with @Cephalosquid about how the emeralds should be. However, maybe add that emeralds have a faster swinging time because they're less dense than diamonds or gold.

    If this useless idea gets added to Minecraft in the same unimaginative way that it is in the mods, I will kill people who use it and burn their armour and tools.

    Edit -- there are other minerals that have no use for armour and tools such as Redstone. Why should a trading currency become part of our armour and tools?

    they would be easy to obtain if you find a village though... I love the idea but maybe they would be close to the durability of gold though I really hope it gets added though because it is such an interesting and fun idea that so many people would love to have, especially the villagers XD

    After the villager trading system i would really like this because emeralds are now easier to obtain, but the strength should be between iron and diamond

    Emeralds are super easy to get loads of them early. Diamond should always be the best armour because that's how minecraft works. Its tradition and it means diamonds are useful. if emerald is better than diamond then diamond has no purpose in the game.

    Emerald should have a specific job that means you use it for a specific task. I think that perhaps emerald armour is weak and cannot be enchanted but it does something special when you have hero of the village or bad omen. Maybe it does something to plants like increasing the growth rate (because it is green) Maybe once you activate it by wearing it when you get hero of the village, then you can add one permanent potion effect. Whatever it does it has to be different to diamond, not compete with it.

    No I think that emerald armor and tools should be slightly stronger than iron and slightly weaker than diamond. But less durability than iron but more durability than leather

    emeralds are supposed to be a currency and not a useful ore. The reason emeralds are so rare is so u can mine a lot of them easily and be able to buy everything from the village.

    I think it should help you in the .which part of the game, also it should have a different shape to other armours.

    I think if emerald armour, tools, and weapons were introduced, it would be the opposite of gold. It would have a durability slightly higher than diamond, but damage, protection, and mining speed would be slightly lower than wood and leather.

    I think, as emeralds are easy to get from villagers, the tools and armor should be crafted from emerald blocks instead of just emeralds.

    People are saying emeralds are rare however 6 pumpkins can get 1 emerald so they clearly not as rare as diamonds. However this could be a good idea if in instead of being used for protection it could be used to buff trading.
