Are you sure you want to report this?

Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

In my opinion all blocks should do this, with the amount dependent on something like blast resistance (so stone would dampen more than dirt).

I have to take off my headphones whenever I'm checking on my RS controller (1.16
    1) because I have a milkmaid rat stuck in a tiny pen with a cow and a fluid interface, if there is a mod that makes power based on annoyance amount that could power an entire world of mine...

Edit: replace rat cage with headphones

This would improve minecraft so much!!!!!!!!! In combination with the skulk sensor, this would be so cool. We need it!

In some way, Mojang is already doing something similar to this with how wool blocks prevent sounds from reaching Sculk Sensors. With that in mind, it would make sense to extend this and make wool blocks audibly dampen sounds from the player's perspective. Maybe Mojang is already planning to do that in 1.17; but if not, they definitely should... as long as it can be done without performance issues.
