The Lectern: a better way to rename items

The lectern(https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_mentioned_features#Lectern) was an item that Dinnerbone had in mind that was supposed to be a way to read books, It was later scrapped and was never implemented, even in a snapshot. I think this method of reading wasn't a good idea since you can't read books wherever you want. However, the lectern itself could be used for a different purpose: a much better way to rename items.

The UI would have 2 text boxes, 2 input slots, and an output slot. If you put an item of your choice in one slot and a dye in the other, the color of the item's name will change. The text boxes would be used for editing the name and the lore.

This is far better than the current renaming method with anvils, costing no xp, no repair cost increase, and no durability loss of the block itself. It makes more sense too. Is the anvilling method like carving glyphs into a tool or something? Do we have to carve the letters out to a piece of paper instead of writing on it? Removing the namespace in the anvil interface and adding a proper renaming tool will allow more customizability to items in survival.

    I think this would be a pretty cool revival idea. I also would like to see the ability to leave a book on the lectern for people to read, but without removing the ability to read books wherever you'd like. That way, you'd get a choice.

    This is one of the best ideas I have seen on this site so far - voted. My suggestion would be to scrap the text box for lore, it would be too cumbersome; instead, have it to where you place a Written Book into another input slot. The contents of the Written Book would become the lore for that item, which makes sense because, well, it's lore!
