Hedgehogs

I would like hedgehogs to be added to Minecraft; this would be to make forests more unique. I can’t think of any way they could be useful in survival, but I think it would widen the variety of mobs that could be found.

    One could use the hedgehog spines to craft darts that could be fired with a blowgun

    I was thinking that when you would step on a hedgehog it would do a heart or two of damage as well as them shedding their spines like a normal hedgehog does so that you can make traps that hurt mobs and players

    Either in addition to or instead of hedgehogs there should be porcupines. They could be hidden in trees and deal you damage if you ruin their spot. Their quills are more suited to damage.

    Okay but why hedgehogs? This question seriously needs to be asked. Because honestly you would be better off adding squirrels or songbirds or something simpler to do the same job.

    It would be nice also if there is a chance to find a blue hedgehog like a brown panda if you get this reference then I’m proud.

    Maybe you could use the quills for an alternate arrow crafting recipe or something.

    They would make nice, and cute pets, like in real life.

    There could a "taming" system for them similar to foxes. Let's say adult hedgehogs are scared of the player and mobs and will stop moving, point their quills up, and hiss at the player. But, if one were to give a baby hedgehog something like spider eyes, you could tame it(Since hedgehogs eat bugs in the wild I figured spider eyes would be the closest thing to reality), or, the player would have to spend a certain amount of time around a baby hedgehog as to gain its trust, similarly how one would have to be chosen by a hedgehog if someone was adopting one. The hedgehog wouldn't follow you but it wouldn't be afraid of you.

    I had my own ideas for hedgehogs too, a lot of their irl behaviors would be nice to see in the game! They would be passive, but deal damage when hit thanks to the quills, and have an "upset" stage when around monsters or predators, making them deal damage to anything that touches or walks by it, cats would avoid hedgehogs too. Instead of dropping anything on death, they should shed their quills when they grow up, like turtles do with their scutes.

    Hedgehogs would be a good feature because it would be slow and if you walk or run on it as well as jumping it will do around 1 heart of damage and should be tamable with ants or termites (Savannah biome)

    I was thinking you could try and tame them, but it doesn't always work. You could tame them with fish and/or berries. They can follow you around and scare of a certain mob, like cats.

    Some were wondering what the use of a hedgehog would be considering they don't do much in real life except make great pets, so I had an idea. Since termites are being added into the game in a future update, I was thinking if you had a pet hedgehog, or just a wild hedgehog, it would eat the termites and keep them under control so they won't destroy your house, or buildings. I would love to see this addition in Minecraft considering I have a pet hedgehog, and them having a use in the game would be really neat.

    If this gets added, how bout an Easter egg? If you name a sheep jeb_, it becomes a rainbow sheep. If you name a rabbit Toast, you get a hidden skin. With the hedgehog, if you name it Sonic, it turns blue and moves at twice the speed as normal

    There could be a rare chance ,like brown pandas and stuff, for the hedgehog to spawn blue and go really fast as a reference to sonic for a bit of fun.

    They should add it with insects because hedgehogs are insectivorous

    I think hedgehogs would be a great addition to the game, in addition to everyone else's ideas like using their spines for potential blow dart ammo, it could also act like a pest in farms like they do in real life, since they aren't picky eaters they could potentially pick your berry bushes, not only that they are natural prey to foxes. Also a great feature would be nest building

    Make all the types of hedgehogs i love them there my favorite animal. and pls make them

    tameable as pets and there spikes/quills included please. I also have a pet hedgehog in real life.her names Pipsi and shes an african pygmy hedgehog!!!!!(:

    Also id be cool that if you have a hedgehog with you then it will attack sometimes or go infont of you and when the mob trys to hit you your hedgehog blocks and mob gets hurt instead.kinda like really strong thorns but not really.this may or may not apply to creepers.

    Also id be very cool since really right now there really only in templates. Which i have the pet shop template and their in it along with other cool stuff but hedgehogs are the best and coolest
