Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Making Minecarts more robust (pushing mobs off tracks, faster top speed etc.)

Minecarts definitely need the speed boost as currently an ice road with boats is 5 times faster and that is cheaper and easier to set up, they need doubling in speed to at least 16m/s to be viable again but realistically it should be 20-30m/s for how much resources it takes to make, yes ice boats would still be faster but minecarts don't require player input so would still be useful in some circumstances at that point.

Great idea! I think that Minecarts should be connectable by chains, and these minecarts would not disconnect unless you did

I don't like how useless they are and how entirely out classed they are by ice boats (Which is also totally unintuitive). But not only minecarts, I believe the horses should get the same amount of love for similar reasons but this is not the place for that.

First of all, I quite like furnace minecarts because:
A.) If you don't have gold you can can't power rails
B.) It goes at the perfect speed for afk nether wart farming (even on powered rails)
C.) They act as minecart stoppers & don't get moved as easily by mobs
What I would change about them:
A.) Make them use different fuels instead of just coal & only coal
B.) Make certain fuels move at different speeds & last different times e.g. blaze rods could be fast but short & charcoal be slow but long
C.) Fix the jank from the old physics system without removing it's core linking & stopping uses

This is a great idea I totally agree. My biggest request is the greater top speed because they really are obsolete.

Minecarts should be able to damage mobs and players. If a player dies for that reason, the death message would be: "Playername was hit by a minecart." The faster the minecart, the more damage it deals, capping at 16 hearts, which goes well with the idea of faster carts.

Plenty of good ideas in comments! Let me add some ideas:

Higher speed is brought from a new kind of Power rail, OR existing power rail but powered by a "stronger redstone-like". (I saw an idea of someone else that also needed a stronger redstone to use as fuel for auto-crafting..).

Diamond Minecart. (same recipe than Minecart, but diamonds insteal of steel)
Diamcart can go much faster than Minecart, and if an entity is hit by a fullspeed diamcart, it is pushed away and get damaged.

Netherite Minecart (Recipe is Diamon minecart + 1 ingot of netherite)
If the Nethercart lands on lava, it doesn't get destroyed. (item form also doesn't fear the lava)

I like it. Only change is that chains should be used to link carts instead of leads.

Have the Ability to make minecarts Invincible.
And let them have some effects like Invisibility.

i mostly agree, but instead of using leads to connect carts, it should use chains.

I think Minecarts should almost go as fast as elytras to even be an option, as they require so much infrastructure.

Speed increase with gravel under tracks would be more accurate/stylistically nice to irl railroads and encourage creative building, as people would have to make interesting bridges for them.

Instead of increasing the items yielded by the recipe for a standard rail, there could be a lower-quality version of the rail, perhaps crafted with four nuggets and two ingots (there shouldn't be a alternate version of the powered rail).

Now, there is a chance that the minecart would come to an abrupt stop when running on this rail, requiring the player to manually push it to the next powered rail, or - more likely - flinging the player off at times, but when at full speed, the minecart could occasionally fluctuate between 8-10 (or however more the speed of standard rails is) metres per second. The probability of this short boost of speed is increased when using these low-quality rails consecutively.

Depending on the location and use of a railway, this could put the player in a dilemma wether to use the less-reliable rails - granting more speed at the cost of safety and reliability - the standard iron rails, which sacrifices speed and cost for safety, or a mix of the two - granting a small chance of extra speed alongside the risk of derailing.

A tool for linking and unlinking carts together in a train with the furnace cart at the front would work wonders.
