Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

As someone who loves the 1.7.10 mod Mariculture i adore any pearl related. I dont think pearls should work the same way at that mod. Perhaps in doing this we can add just like mother of pearl blocks, oysters, a new food item etc?

I think that there is a chance that players COULD confuse the term with ender pearls, especially in quicker speech without the correct context, but this can be easily solved by the team by renaming aquatic-spawning pearls to exactly that, aquatic pearls, or some other name. Suggest maybe "Abyssal pearl", "Dazzling pearl", etc.

In terms of uses, I would suggest the team create a glittering set of stairs and slabs similar to a shiny version of nether quartz. However, I would further suggest that these pearls, given some sort of enchantment procedure such as the enchanting table or smithing with copper, could be expensive but effective throwable weapons which give off various effects to where they are thrown at. For example, throwing one pearl would spawn arrows which shoot out at all surrounding mobs, and another pearl would set everywhere nearby on fire. Still another could ignite and explode all nearby TNT or End Crystals.

What a nice idea, would love it if you can fish oysters and some of them have pearls in it. You could use them as a deco object and put them on tables/blocks or create special objects with them like a new shell lantern or something like that or trade them with villagers.

Awesome idea. Please clarify what you want, though.

What if they were a rare find, and you needed several to make a necklace, and that necklace made drowned leave you alone? Or at least less likely to attack. Drowned are everywhere, so I don't think having a mid-late game equipment to deter them would not be unbalanced.

But also someone said they could be placed as a little light source and I think that would be cute too.

Clams - as underwater creatures various in size depending on their age. Could age very long - hundreds of days for example.

When touched with brush (copper or new one), the clam would drop a pearl if it was inside it.

Example usage of pearls: It can reflect light in certain direction, allowing to lighten the interiors with natural light source. Like mirrors. Or just be an ornament that can be placed unrefined.
