Palm & Coconut Trees (was: Palm Trees)

There a few different types of trees in Minecraft but I think one that would really liven up the world, and that could fit well with the new Update Aquatic, are palm trees. They could only generate on or around beaches obviously. Also, I would really really want coconuts trees to be added too. The coconuts could be kind of like cocoa beans but a little different. You could drink from them and eat them. I feel like this would really help and is something I’ve wanted for a while.

    I think the coconuts should be affected by gravity. If you break the block the coconut is attached to, the coconut will fall instead of breaking. If the coconut falls on the player's head it should do damage like how anvils do.

     

    Anyways I think this feature is great.

    YES tree sap should also be added from which items like tody can be collected and potions can be created

    I feel like palm trees would fit good in dessert beach an jungle biomes maybe each biome could have there own type of palm tree like maybe the jungle ones have coconuts an bananas hanging from them an when you chop the coconut trees there is a change the coconut could fall on you causing a half tick of damage an it would also bring back a little excitement to tree cutting

    Palm trees could also be great in desserts, where you already find ponds of water and that could become an oasis, the implementation of palm trees could also make desserts look more authentic

    Also the texture of Palms are currently only possible with Ancient Debris, which is rather hard to get [citation needed]. This would add more textures and options to building. Great idea

    I feel very sad that three years ago I really wanted to see this come into the game but it seems like mojang has deleted the "announced" off this post like they never talked about it. I still wish we will have these trees, but atleast meerkats are still announced and (hopefully) they will be added in the game

    I think there should be 2 types of palm date and coconut; date palms would have a reddish brown wood and would generate in desert biomes at an oasis. Coconut palms would generate in jungle, sparse jungle and maybe beach biomes; they would have a gray wood. And each tree would grow coconuts and dates respectively

    I really love this idea, because it would finally add a tree that would grow on sand and give you a chance of surviving on a beach island

    I would recommend the following for Palm Trees:

    1) Only grow in sand

    2) Must grow within 10 meters of a water source

    3) Have a special leaf type (like a large dripleaf) that can be crafted into slab/carpet-like tiles)

     

    This would make them pop up on beaches, create desert oasis, and create foliage along rivers in deserts -and would also make them the dire-situation life-savers that they tend to be in such places

    Totally agree! Implementing this feature would give deserts and beaches much more life. Also, I think that this change could imply the addition of new vegetation such as bananas, dates, more variety of woods, coconuts... Why not introduce beach villages? I know it's too much, but I think these little details would give the game much more life.

    I don't think eating them would be a good idea, but I think drinking them would be. Like maybe they could add something like they did with how you can get frostbite now? What if you overheat! Coconut milk is just the way to stop that!! Like OH NEW IDEA, OASIS SPAWNING IN DESERTS, I'M POSTING

    Maybe to get coconut milk(water) you would have to destroy its connection to the tree, maybe like some sort of coconut stem?

    I propose that Coconuts could be thrown in the same manner that snowballs and can deal damage.
