Dear Mojang, This message is sent with the utmost respect from someone who loves and has played the game for many years. I am very passionate about Minecraft, and want it to succeed and stay relevant for years to come.
However, there is one major issue that needs to be addressed. The Java edition of Minecraft is severely unoptimized, and this limitation hinders its accessibility and playability for many. Without performance-boosting mods/modpacks like Sodium, numerous players struggle to run the game. Those unaware of such mods are often left unable to play the Java edition of Minecraft at all.
With the upcoming Vibrant Visuals graphics overhaul, this problem will only worsen. Java Minecraft risks falling behind other major titles due to its stark lack of optimization.
How do you plan to address this? Will there be a ground-up rework of the game to adopt modern renderers like DirectX 11 or Vulkan? I understand this is essentially what the Bedrock edition achieves—and why it was created—but this is a needed rework nonetheless. While I recognize optimizing the game is a significant undertaking, it’s one that needs to happen.
I appreciate the work the Minecraft team does with the game and it’s marketing, and I hope optimization becomes a priority in the near future.
