Yeah I have no clue what they were thinking with this update. Please for the sake of the game do not implement this change. I will not be playing any future updates of the game if this goes through.

I really hope they change it back. Parkour and bridging (mostly bedwars) are some of the most played things. Please listen to the community MOJANG. We really love your game, but than you mustn't give us reasons to NOT love it

I'm a builder and I agree that this will make building so much more tedious. I already try and work around it so I don't have to crouch and can move a bit faster, but it's often unavoidable. This would genuinely make building less fun.
I can imagine some people going "well just use Swift Sneak!" but to obtain it, you need to go to one of the most difficult places to conquer in the game to even get it and - again, I'm a builder, I'm not great at the game and it's a genuine challenge for me to go through!

And Swift Sneak doesn't even fix all the other issues people are complaining about regarding parkour or pvp! Please revert this, you're putting great work into an amazing game, just please listen to the community. These "bugs" don't make the game worse in any way for anyone, don't fix what's not broken.

This "Fixes" are going to be some of the worst updates of all time. There is no reason to fix them now, and all it would do is further divide the already spread out community. I hope this comment, if ever read, will help Minecraft realize their mistake in this new update.

The extent to which this would make combat way less interesting is something mojang probably doesn't realise... This would basically make strafing in PvP just a flat out disadvantage, which would change the fundamentals of PvP... Yet again, but this time it won't split the community but unite it against.

As a console bedrock only player I know this is THE FUNDEMENTAL pvp mechanic and its getting removed?? Like i usually hate java bc of how many features (and way less bugs) it has compared to bedrock, but this is absolutely absurd. The devs are so disconnected with the community and it shows.

Please revert these changes because they ruin the game. I know they were just glitches but they been in the game so long that there not glitches anymore, they are a part of the game

this needs to happen the movment in minecraft in every version is good becose of this ''bug'' witch has been in the game for years and is basecly a feature that make the game better mojang if somthing isint broken dont ''fix'' it leave the movment alone

Do not implement these changes Mojang! The community is already incredibly split between 1.8 and 1.9+ updates as it is, there's no need to force people to use older versions again. All this does is make movement far more linear and boring, and severely hurts communities such as the speedbridging and parkour communities, as well as the pvp community altogether. Listen to your community for once and get this change reverted immediately. You had a lot of time to patch this out before it became important in high-level play, and you missed that chance.

Many people are already used to 1.9+ pvp and 1.8 is slowly dying. these changes will absolutely destroy 1.9 pvp and its going to end up killing competitive pvp modes comepletely.

This is exactly right! Non only the parkour and bridging mechanics that have been developed will be undermined but PvP mechanics too - to gain even the slightest more momentum in a fight can determine who wins - that's something that competitive PvPers have put hours and hours in practicing to control. Strafing for that tiny bit of speed is crucial and removing this feature is so, SO stupid.

Think of all of the hard work and effort that the community puts in...just for mojang (moyang) to do this.

no casual player is even going to find strafing and no competitive player will hate strafing, mojang please bring strafing back we love strafing it makes no sense to get rid of it

I don’t think Mojang fully understands how much removing the 40% diagonal speed increase impacts all sides of the competitive Minecraft community. Mojang needs to engage more with the community and listen to its feedback. Changing core mechanics that have been part of the game for over a decade is not the way to maintain satisfaction or trust among players.

The removal of the diagonal speed increase affects numerous aspects of gameplay, disrupting mechanics that players have relied on for years. This change negatively impacts key communities, including bridging, PvP, speed running, and parkour. Altering such a fundamental feature creates unnecessary frustration and damages the game’s reputation.

Rather than altering established mechanics, Mojang should prioritize adding fresh content that enhances the game’s variety and appeal. Introducing new features, challenges, and tools would expand gameplay possibilities without undermining the systems that players already enjoy. This approach would preserve Minecraft’s core mechanics while keeping the community excited and engaged. So basically MOJANG DO NOT PATCH IT
