the movement is so clunky, slow, and terrible-feeling now. elytra jumping, one of the core uses of the elytra, is dead

As a bridger in the community I find this much harder to play when some particlair bridging methods like Telly, God bridge and Speed bridge much more inconsistent and slower whitch could lead to longger times than on average whitch could lead world record holders to get a more unfair advantages when some methods that needs speed cha cha hold God Bridge and etc.

Just because something IS technically a "bug" does NOT mean it has to be fixed. Mojang needs to understand that.

They also just need to connect more with their community in general.

I never even knew these were bugs, I thought they were a part of Minecraft movement physics. I think it's super cool that players can take these minor details of the game and ever-so-slightly improve their gameplay quality, and it pushes the limits of what Minecraft players can achieve. 45 strafing... PvP movement... and not only in the competitive scene... sprint-crouch-jumping to make cool obstacles in SMPs with friends and just playing around with mechanics in a single player world. All of this has been so ingrained in Minecraft gameplay, and it would in my opinion be detrimental to all gameplay, whether it's 1.8 PvP, 1.20 parkour, or casual survival Minecraft. It's like setting up your hotkeys 10 years ago, so used to pressing R to sprint instead of double-tapping W. And then you just change that R key to T. Not a major change (only one key apart), but completely changes the entire gameplay for players.

I hope this post blows up and these changes don't get implemented. Thank you 3rasmian for the initiative.

It is an unnecessary change that affects too much that has already been in the game for way too long for you to just remove it. You should've heard what the community wanted and also you can't let such a fundamental feature of the game and has been a part of it for literally 15 years. Everyone is used to it and it doesn't hurt the game. It only improves it. If you wanted to remove this you had the chance the change it before. It's been too long. You had your chance before. Most people does not even see it as a bug, But as a feature. Please Mojang. Revert the feature. Please

    please reverse this.

it's going to kill strafing, completely nuking 1.9+ pvp and will create an even bigger divide in the pvp/competitive community. more players will turn back to 1.8 combat and 1.9+ pvp servers will cease updating to maintain decade-old mechanics, creating a new 1.22+ divide. it's akin to removing the water bucket clutch, a bug that became a well-used feature. there would be no benefits aside from "maintaining realism" but at the cost of the game's quality-of-life.

if the bug doesn't break the game or is a decade old, please don't touch it!!

I know the company wants to move towards a cleaner and more polished game and that's fine but a part of minecraft's charm is the old bugs that people have discovered, learned and adapted to. removing them helps achieve this bug-less goal, yes, but it also removes the nostalgic character the game has.

there are many other bugs that negatively impact the game. this isn't one of them, so please leave it be.

everything is ruined this needs to be reverted unlike 1.8 to 1.9 where the combat system got changed people got to adapt to the combat system and discovered new things but we're at the point where there is no new things and these drastic changes are inversible. Look at parkour community they lost their community is now gone from removing these ability to do these "bugged jumps", just ripping that community is disappointing, mojang revert this change and instead of fixing these community "bug" that we all love add more features, or even replace these bugs with new things that gets the community hyped up.

overall mojang is just disconnected with the community

Like QC, this is one of the bugs that people benefit from and won't make people exploit it, please revert these changes and make it a feature.

I know the majority of comments may be talking about this change in the context of the competitive Minecraft scene, so I won't mention any more about that. However, as a mostly survival player, diagonal crouch bridging and diagonal sprinting are very important to me. Diagonal crouch bridging is great for bridging across lava lakes, and Diagonal Sprinting is something I do pretty much unconsciously as I look at the world around me whenever I am traveling through the Overworld. I understand this change is being implemented for parity with Minecraft Bedrock, but it would be much better if diagonal sprinting and crouching were added to Bedrock instead of taking away such fundamental features from Java Minecraft. I'm looking forward to a positive response to this petition, along with potentially millions of others that have also been playing 10+ years on Java.

This change might as well be the newest 1.9 in MC History.

Picture this: A world, where CS:GO doesn't have B-Hop, Celeste doesn't have Demodash, and Roblox with all its weird movement quirks removed.

That is tantamount to throwing those games into the trash can.

Some things are to be kept: Some glitches aren't glitches anymore after they been in your game for a FULL DECADE. For instance, remember the corner clip patch in Roblox - That's a prior example of remove glitches, causing more harm than good.

Now, if we look at the side for Microsoft, they WILL lose a large player base - Microsoft had done plenty of controversial picks to MC - 1.9, for a good example: The complete change of PvP system had caused a schism in the community, and if another one happens: Microsoft might as well remove the game at all.

So please, do NOT implement these changes, for it would only negatively impact the game, and the community that Microsoft relies on to generate profit.

This update is going to negatively impact several Minecraft communities. The ability to strafe being taken away means drastic changes in the worlds of bridging, pvp, parkour, and so much more. This update is in no way good, and should be reverted.

I agree, why are these changes added. They have been allmost since the game has existed, but now you are removing them?! Please add back sprint crouching from pre 1.21.3, fall damage from 4 blocks and 45 degree strafing from before the newest snapshot

why removing a harmless bug that has been in the game for so long that it has developed itself into the game as a very common feature for pvp and parkour? smh mojang

I know these mechanics were never technically meant to be in the game, but they have been for so long that they have become fundamental parts of the game for many ppl at this point. Maybe casual players wont care, but lots of people who enjoy parkour and pvp will be affected negatively by this. Sprint crouching is so good for parkour and even for survival like when u r sneaking around in an ancient city. Making bridging slower doesnt help anyone. 45 strafes in parkour is something some people have spent hundreds of hours practicing to perfect, so why just randomly remove it now when it hurts nobody? Strafing in pvp is a fundamental mechanic, its pointless to fix it. All these funky mechanics made the game feel more fun. Please mojang listen to your community and revert these changes.

The movement change in 1.22 was completely unexpected, not gonna lie, mojang not even posting a poll about such a major change in the 2 aspects of minecraft that i actually enjoy (pvp and parkouring) would be completely ruined! Mojang makes polls about stupid, silly and unnecessary mobs in the game, but they didnt make a poll about this is what upsets me here, when i joined java community i was like 1.9+ is the better version no need to master 1.8+, both were already split enough but now its gonna be split even more, it's crazy, the logic of mojang. I feel bad for the new players, they will not know the legacy of the great mojang we used to know, also mojang the "bug" was in the game for an entire decade, to the point where people were thinking it's a feature and making new discoveries felt so cool, if you're just gonna change everything all of a sudden people might aswell just give up playing minecraft, i started the game for pvp and enjoyment but now if i don't have that then it's useless to have this game in the first place, The years spent for finding a small "bug" (i'd rather call it a feature), just made the game a little bit faster, if you're removing it, bedwars will die (i dont even play bedwars but i feel bad for it) and it only gave a 41% boost, some people's channel depend on these small little "bugs" (features) and you removing it will ruin their channels it might also be their career. Overall please do not change to these features I reached the max word count.:(
