Current world generation is breathtaking in its immensity; however, it still leaves much to be desired. The current world generation is well-done but definitely could benefit from tweaking.
Oceans need to be made bigger. Currently, oceans are large lakes; land surrounds it. It should be the other way around; seas should take up roughly 50% of Minecraft worlds. This would allow for large, regularly connected continents, persuading players to explore. This should also be tweaked to allow for more islands to generate; currently, islands as a whole are an incredibly rare occurrence. Since there are reasons why old generation was changed, islands should now not spawn everywhere across oceans, but rather in regular clumps of small to medium size, as well as solitary islands. This improves the challenge of the game, since island spawns will result in less materials and land.
Land generation also should be tweaked to allow for a nicer experience. The beta world generation was breathtaking and suited Minecraft, so I believe that aspects from old generation should be reimplemented, such as chaotic cliffs and deep gorges, well-formed valleys and realistic ponds. More realistic generation could also be implemented. For example, I strongly believe that plains and savannah biomes should be mostly flat and smooth. Rivers could also come from a "spring" at a high place, rather than ugly, nonsensical scribbles across the landscape.
Thank you for your time, I hope you will consider this!
