If you are playing Easy or Peaceful, you should have a choice to keep inventory without turning off achievements as it shouldn't be considered a cheat, especially if you are playing easy or peaceful as most likely you aren't that good at the game and therefore need this feature.

I'm with everyone else on this one, keep inventory should just be a toggleable non-cheat option when making a world. Honestly, making it tied to difficulty would more likely confuse newer players.

    in my opinion
if they really want to change it make it an option that unlocks keep inventory below the difficulty selection that is off by default instead of in cheats.
Making keep inventory on peaceful and easy completely destroys the point of survival mode on those difficulties, I play on those difficulties, not because I don't wanna die but because phantoms and mobs overtime get really annoying. keep it as a separate option you can turn it on if you want it and leave it off if you don't, it was fine the way it was. I like the idea of changing the way difficulties work, but removing most of the point of survival mode isn't really the best way to go. Just make it a separate option that doesn't require cheats when you're on those difficulties, please don't make it default. To most players it feels just as cheaty as going into creative mode.

I'm sure many original players feel the way. there's a lot of people that will feel like they're cheating on their survival world. If you really want to make it easier just take that option out of cheats when you're on those difficulties don't force it on the difficulties.

Instead of making keep inventory on by default move it under the difficulty option so it would be more accessible to new players, and so they can enable it easier.
keep inventory could be considered not a cheat in easy and peaceful difficulty

Easy and peaceful shouldn't give any achievements if this is added, people that care for achievements should be encourage to play harder difficulties, keep inventory should always be consider a cheat, this gives way to many advantages over the normal gameplay, free teleport to base, you don't need to fight for your items when exploring, your items are more safe in your inventory than your base and you don't need a plan or emergency equipment to get the items back.-

I think that a difficulty update to Minecraft could be very positive for the game as Easy,Normal and Hard all feel the same when you play them. I think to make the difficulties more unique you can introduce or lock certain mobs for difficulty caps or maybe even mechanics such as the Oxygen bar, mob behaviours (although this can break farms) and mob loot pools!

The biggest problem I have with dying right now isn't whether I keep my items, but whether I can get them back at all. It happens so often in a game where I'll slowly grind better and better gear, die in an accident, recover some back-up loot, and find out after 20 minutes of traveling that all my hours of work has despawned. I really appreciate Minecraft's sense of urgency when I die, and using backup loot to get my stuff back is quite fun, but losing all my stuff to an unknown amount of time is what really causes me to lose interest in worlds I pour hours and hours into. I feel like, instead of making Keep Inventory on by default and practically eliminating the threat of dying, the items you drop from death shouldn't despawn, either as easily or at all. I don't know if this should apply to all difficulties, but at least on Easy and Medium, it would be way more engaging and reassuring if I either knew that my stuff wouldn't go away, or if there was some sort of timer or indication letting me know when they were about to go away. Another idea that I've seen tossed around is creating a rare item in normal play that would allow players to Keep Inventory once before being consumed, like a Totem of Retaining, probably in Ancient Cities or Ocean Monuments. For balance reasons, they would be exceedingly rare and not keep experience.

I've been playing Minecraft for a long time and I think this is not good. I don't know if anyone has tried using keep inventory, but you can just go mining or to the nether or anything, and when you die you just go back to your base with all your loot. Maybe you could keep the loot you had when you last set your spawn? then if you leave to go mining and find diamonds you can't just jump in lava to get back.

Im a Java player but my preferred way of playing is keep inventory on hard mode so this would negatively impact weirdos like me.

I'm thinking just have like a little pop up that says "Would you like to activate Keep Inventory?" whenever you choose peaceful and easy. That could be a problem though considering that a lot of the bedrock players are younger kids who might have trouble reading, and might not understand what that means.

It is a great change for players who play on touchscreen devices. It is very difficult on touchscreen. It will make game easier for them .The people who like to keep inventory cannot do that because it turns off        the achievements. Thanks mojang it is the best change that i have ever seen in any game.

bad idea i like playing on easy but i dont want my stuff to stay with me when i die as that ruins the fun theres no risk when going down into a cave as u can just die and still be able to get ur stuff back soo easily

I think it should be only implemented in peaceful mode  since the players that play it  already do not want to die  , I think they play it  because they can focus on only building / discovering rather than fighting or dealing with hostile mobs

I feel a much easier way to go about this is to just remove keep inventory from cheats and make it a world setting. This current plan may interfere with say, SMPs that use easy mode but focus a lot on PvP. Giving players the option is a core mechanic of how Minecraft is played, and locking this on difficulty does not align with that ideal.

I don't hate this feature but if you make it keep inventory on easy and peaceful, you should make a button appear below the difficulty button to turn off keep inventory.

Maybe they can have keep inventory on for peaceful mode, but only keep inventory for the Hotbar in easy mode?

Instead of it being default on, when you choose the difficulty add a button to choose keep inventory.

Echoing the sentiment of many other commenters, I think this should be a setting that can be toggled on all difficulties, without counting as a cheat and disabling achievements. While the default can be set to on for lower difficulties, it shouldn't be forced. Give players the option to customize how they want their gameplay experience to be. If this feature were to come to Java Edition, I would also want it to be customizable per world regardless of difficulty.

This is the best change in a decade, it should have been like that from the start. When I first tried Minecraft, the "inventory loss ring" was one of the main reasons I completely lost interest in the game for 5 years (I didn't even buy the game then). Then I started watching Minecraft videos and got interested in the game again, gave it a second chance, funny enough, even thought I found out that "keep inventory" can be turned on, and even started playing a world with this setting, I then switched to a server where it was turned off, I fell into the "inventory loss ring" again and lost interest again for a year. Then I also tried playing Bedrock, thinking I might like it better for it's core mechanics, and I did like it better, but not being able to get any achievements was really disappointing. I'm currently playing on my own Java server with the Create mod and keep inventory on and I'm happy with that

I'm pretty sure that at the scale of Minecraft sales, tens of millions of players just left the game because they didn't even know about the existence of keep inventory setting, not every person will give a second chance to the game like me, plus I know people who by just hearing about such a mechanic, will not even try in first place

Inventory loss is simply too strong a punishment to be on all difficulties, it just doesn't fit in a game like this, it should only be only hard, because even on normal it's way too  much

No, we shouldn't have keep inventory forced on the player if they choose peaceful or easy mode, maybe make it an option below the difficulty choice button because it makes the game way too easy to play, you can just do anything without repercussions, and most new players won't know the keep inventory button exists so maybe make it more prominent in the menu?

I think that the keep inventory situation is already very good with how when you die you have to adventure out into the world to get your things back, while this change would help newer players enjoy Minecraft more I think that the players that know how to play but like playing on easy or peaceful would not like the change. Maybe in the world creation menu as you are creating a world if it is peaceful or easy the player can decide whether they would like keep inventory on and having it not as a cheat and of course keeping the hard and normal modes keep inventory as a cheat put in the cheats menu.

I think that base difficulty and keep inventory options should be kept as two seperate options, however enabling keep inventory should be more heavily emphasised than it currently is. The problem with this change is that keep inventory and world difficulty are two very different types of challenge that people are going to enjoy different amounts, and so linking those two options together means that players have less options. Trying to make the game more fun for them in one way may make it less fun in another; for example, a player who enjoys combat but dislikes the stress of losing all their stuff is forced to either stick with easy where fights aren't as challenging, or go to normal/hard where that stress of losing progress is far more prevalent.

I do agree with the accessibility side of this change, as giving easier options to newer players who may not otherwise know that these opitons exist may help them get into the game, however there are more ways of doing this other than just easy=keep inv. A good solution to this could be to modify the ui; add keep inventory as an option under the difficulty options, and maybe give a pop-up saying that it's recommended for newer/more casual players. This enables anyone to have a more casual experience and for newcomers to have a better time while still giving veterans more of a challenge.

A good reference point for this is Fire Emblem's casual vs classic modes, which works really well for it, but this post is getting too long anyway lol
