i think this is a bad idea and it would be a better idea to put the optoin (with off as default) on the front page of creating a new world (if your going to do anything i think i would keep it the same)

make it an option so that when you choose easy mode there is an option that pops up under it that says "keep inventory!" on or off and they can choose so easy isn't so easy as to ruin the expierence

I think that keep inventory should be be turned on by default so that new players automatically have that on, but you should still be able to turn it off. You should also not be allowed to get achievements with it on.

I think that setting keep inventory by default for peaceful and easy difficulties is good, but the player should be able to change it either way (without cheats).  Reason for this is because newer players aren't going to understand all the menus, so they have the default setting of keep inventory if they want an easier time, while more experienced players will already know all the menus, so they won't mind setting keep inventory manually.

Also, I think that there should be more differences between the difficulties besides keep inventory.  Keep inventory is more of a risk setting than a difficulty setting imo, and harder difficulties can actually make the game easier via increased zombie villager conversion rates (allowing for easier creation of villager trading halls).

Not opposed to keep inventory being enabled by default on easier difficulties, but it would be better to still have the option to disable it in those cases. Considering it as more of an option than a cheat is a great change. Entirely removing the option to change it in some cases is weird and imposes a needless restriction on user experience. I feel like options (or 'cheats') that do not inherently bring players a lot closer to an achievement should not block achievements entirely. Keep inventory is just a play style option that saves time, reduces risk (not to be confused with difficulty), and can make the game less stressful for some players. It doesn't eliminate or bypass any of the meaningful work/gameplay that gets put towards most achievements.

If this isn't toggleable it will REALLY suck. Please at least let it be toggleable. It should also not give achievements, or if it does at least have some sort of caveat 'this was gained with keep inventory on'. Too easy otherwise.

This feels too OP. I think a more balanced approach would be the gravestone type feature, which solves the despawn and inventory spraying everywhere (especially into lava) problems, but still penalizes the player somewhat for dying.

Idea: if this is exclusive to bedrock, then if you select easy or peaceful there's a little button that appears above the hardcore option but below the difficulty option, asking is the player wants access to keepinventory.

I actually am a little divised about that change. Ok, it is better for people who don't like to lose all their items everytime they die, but deppending if it's forced or not it could be an bad implementation

With that being said, there could be an way to the player lose their items but have any way to get them back without the risk to lose them. Some gravestone mods already done that before, where they keep every single player item inside an gravestone that spawns right where the player died (or if the player dies by falling on lava or in the void, it spawns on the closest "save spot"). That way, the player will be punished for dying, but it's not an severe punishment

It could also be applied as an option to normal mode, and also make it not appliable on hard without commands (like keepinventory) so the player can't get achievements on Bedrock without being on the right difficulty

I play A LOT! of video games. Minecraft is one of the best, been playing for more than a decade. I play almost every style of game. When you die in Terarria, you keep your inventory (except money, and other than permadeath). When you die in Borderlands, you keep your inventory (other than a fee of money), when you die in DARK SOULS YOU KEEP YOUR INVENTORY!!! (other than your souls/experience).

In Minecraft, you not only lose ALL of your experience, but every single thing in your inventory as well. This is a game designed as much for children as adults yet it is more difficult than the most difficult games out there.

I say, KeepInventory should be something that is an option for every single difficulty EXCEPT Hard. This should not affect the ability to get trophies. Maybe remove the option to lower the difficulty on a world and add some trophies/achievements for completing the game on Hard.

I think keep inventory shouldn't be permanently on at all. A lot of players use the lower difficulties for a more casual experience, and it honestly feels like you're babying players that have/want a casual playstyle. If this does become a thing, there NEEDS to be an option to allow players to toggle Keep Inventory on/off if they wish.

as a long time mc player, i hav some suggestions, make hard difficulty even harder and put a togglable option for keepinventory.

I think that this overall, is a great idea. However, I think that instead of forcing it on people who choose these difficulties, you put it as an option on the main screen, like how when you click on har mode it gives the option of harcore. I also think, that if we are going to make the easier difficulties easier, then we need to make the harder difficulties harder, and disallow keep inventory on hard and normal mode. As a player who primarily does play on easy with keep inventory, and gets annoyed at the fact that I can't earn achievements, I believe that while overall it's a great idea, it needs more thinking and less extreme changes.

I think Mojang should add a toggle above the hardcore toggle when you either select Peaceful or Easy diffuclty, That way New players can turn it on without losing achivements and more older players who wants to play on Easy difficulty without Keep Inventory can just turn it off. PS: It will be turned on by default in my opinion.

Why can't we have the UI for customize our game like any other sandbox game out there? There're so many example, VRising, Valheim, 7 Days to Die, Project Zomboid, etc. All of them have detailed customization of every aspect of the world / difficulty. Then Peaceful / Easy / Medium / Hard could just become a preset that change the toggles and sliders in the world customization screen. Problem solve. It's about time to modernize this aspect of the game guys.

i play survival fluctuating difficulty on one world and i use keep inventory, keep inventory should just be a gamerule calling it a chet feels insulting, and forcing it is inconsiderate. i also think keep XP should be its own gamerule

I do think this idea is headed in the right direction, however i dont think people who want to play on easy/peaceful should be forced to play with keep inventory on. I think the solution to this would be to make keep inventory not a cheat, or like another commenter suggested; have it to be something you have to turn off for those gamemodes.

I think making it so that you do lose some stuff from your inventory but they take 9 minutes to despawn instead of 5 minutes so that eazy feels more balanced. Normal and hard would just feel like a difficulty spike after you play on eazy because of keep inventory. I think making eazy a bit harder to equilize the space between eazy and normal would work. Also, WITHER

Forcing keep inventory on easy mode players is a bad idea. Some people simply don't want to have the mobs be as difficult or die as easily, but that doesn't necessarily mean they want the game to hold their hand. You should simply move keep inventory as a toggle on THE DIFFICULTY MENU and not hide it in the cheats menu. and have it accessible to all difficulties (except hardcore) This would give players even more control over their gameplay and not alienate the playerbase. No one should be forced to either turn on cheats or make the game harder to decide if they keep their items on death or not.

A good way of having new players have access to keep inventory is to simply relocate the option from cheats to main page of creating a world, just below the difficulty settings and (it is debatable if it should turn off achievements or not, my personal opinion is it should) whenever players are on peaceful or easy, they can just turn the toggle on/off but if they change the gamemode to medium or hard, the keep inventory toggle is just disabled

If this is followed through with it should not become a hard-locked "norm." If it did it would change part of the aspect of the game that makes it so widely enjoyed, that ability to tailor your experience. Not everyone who doesn't want to deal with the chunkier mobs of hard difficulty wants the convenience of not losing what you have, cuz part of the the challenge stems from that. Personally, I can only play with keep inventory on in a world for so long before it loses the engagement and spark to keep going.

I don't see it as so bad, because it can be very useful with new people and/or not so experienced players, so that it is not so annoying for them to die and lose their items, since Minecraft itself can be unfair sometimes towards new players, like a surprise creeper for example, as long as all that is left for the peaceful and easy difficulty, everything is fine. Also, make Keep inventory not a cheat and that it can be activated, not that it comes by default, no, but that it comes deactivated by default, like for example, the gift chest.

I think it’s fantastic that Mojang is making easier difficulties in Minecraft more accessible for new players. However, I would love the option to toggle keep inventory on or off when creating a new world in Easy or Peaceful mode. Losing everything you’ve earned and having to find or earn it again can make gameplay challenging, even for experienced players.

It's important to retain the option for keep inventory to be enabled, especially for new players who may not yet be as skilled as others. Additionally, I believe this should not be considered a cheat, as players should still be able to earn achievements while using this feature.

Furthermore, it would be great to see options for higher difficulty levels, like Hard mode, that enhance the challenge of the game. For instance, players could have the option to make resources harder to obtain. With the introduction of Hardcore mode, it might also be interesting to adjust the power of totems so they don’t grant regeneration or other effects, making the game even more challenging.

I look forward to your ideas and implementations!
