If not done already, I do think there should still be an option to turn off keep inventory for the easy and peaceful difficulties for those who want the easier difficulty but still want the classic experience.

I think these are good changes for Bedrock Edition, I also think that this should definitely not come to Java. Since you have the oppurtunity right now to change difficulty as a whole and you're making easy difficulties even easier I would suggest making harder difficulties even harder (Hard). I propose you have changes to mob AI among other things to make the Hard difficulty actually hard.

I think (especially on easy) this should only affect the hotbar, for balancing purposes.

Feels like Keep Inventory would be better off as a game option for all difficulties (without counting as a cheat).

Then everyone has their cake and can eat it too.

    Bedrock Player Here

I think Keep Inventory shouldn't be forced on peaceful and easy players, but should be togglable when creating a world. I also think Keep Inventory not being a cheat anymore is good, since a lot of people use it.

My Realm is on Easy because we want a normal survival experience but don't want the less skilled members to be overwhelmed with monsters.

I HIGHLY recommend that you do not change anything about the inventory, enchantment level/xp leveln and achievements based off inventory stuff (permanently anyway). It wouldn't feel like Minecraft anymore if I played and keep inventory was automatically enabled for my easy/peaceful mode games.

IF you decide to go through with this change, PLEASE make it so that there is a toggle option to turn it off/on, so that everyone can enjoy easy mode and peaceful mode (and other modes too probably) with the classic Minecraft Vanilla feel.

I personally think it's not survival if you're forced to keep things when you die, unless you feel like you want to keep it, in which case you can simply enable it on or off. (When I say "things", I mean inventory, enchantment level, xp level, and anything else you were thinking of changing.)

In Conclusion: Make a toggle (in world settings) so players aren't forced to keep their inventory/levels/xp.

I think whoever posted this post (shown in an image below) also has the same idea. I just expanded a bit.

I think this is a good change. If people are concerned with Easy and Peaceful being too "easy" then remember WHY they're called Easy and Peaceful. You can always toggle keep inventory off using game rule if you don't like the change. It's just going to be set to true by default when playing these modes. Why not just play normal mode if that's such a big issue for you?

Taking a leaf from Terraria's books, I see. Based idea, but I think Normal should have Keep Inventory too since that's your classic difficulty

    turn of achievments for them

I support the idea of adding this feature as a default, especially for those who prefer a more laid-back experience. My friends and I often switch to Peaceful or Easy modes while building, and we always get a kick out of one of us managing to die on an easier difficulty and have dubbed the trek to our stuff "The Walk of Shame." That said, I’d love to see a toggle for "Keep Inventory" and "Keep Experience" that would automatically enable on Peaceful or Easy, but also give players the option to disable it for those who want to maintain the traditional benefits of lower difficulties. Minecraft is all about customization, so more options to adjust gameplay would be ideal. A toggle system would allow players to enjoy "Keep Inventory" on higher difficulties like Normal and Hard, offering flexibility for those who want to focus more on creative exploration without the penalty of losing items. Anyway that's been my Ted Talk, thanks for reading my novel!

Sometimes I like playing on peaceful or easy mode, and I don't like keep inventory. but I think it could be a setting, as long as achievements stay balanced.

I feel like maybe there should be a little more options for keep inventory for players that want consequences for death, but don't want to loose all of their important items. This could include the hinted at idea that when dying, you loose all enchantment levels but keep your stuff, but also having a littler bit more difficult of an option where the player looses all items but their main tools and armor might be cool too, since loosing all of those important stuff is what really causes players to rage quit. Having all 3 of these versions of keep inventory will add more customizability to the vanilla game and let players shape their experience to what they are able to handle.
I also think it would help a lot if at least the harder versions of keep inventory were togglable for normal mode as well, as the players using those would likely still want a challenge defeating mobs in their world.
Perhaps this might lead to a progressive difficulty but that an entirely different thing that changes a lot of Minecraft's fundamentals so I'm not sure that would be in consideration.

This is a GREAT feature! The keepInventory gamerule is already used by many players as an 'easy' option for laid-back worlds, and this change makes it more accessible and more intuitive. It makes sense for the 'Easy' difficulty. Differentiating the three (non-Peaceful) difficulty levels is always welcomed since currently, it doesn't amount to much besides damage multipliers. I eagerly await this coming to Java.

Allowing players who want a more chill game to still get achievements is going to encourage people to take a few more risks and to explore more.
Many players don't go far from spawn as they get worried about losing all the things that had taken them hours of work. Trying to find one's things before it despawns can be very stressful. Losing all one's things because of one small mistake can be so disheartening.
Some people don't like the feeling of "cheating" (putting cheats on, and disabling achievements) when all they want is just a relaxing game.
Even if it is not everyone's play style, I know of many players that would be thrilled with this change. Let's get more players to meet Jean!

I really like the idea of it, but also some settings to keepinventory would be neat. Like settings the % of xp you would save, some penalty after death like having only half of hunger bar or health, saving only items in hotbar or leaving items in the tombstone after death.

I think Keep Inventory should scale depending on the difficulty. For instance, there's Keep Inventory on Peaceful, but it's slightly different on Easy. For easy, all items drop, but XP decreases to three levels, rather than all of them as it is in the game right now. In addition, the items and XP despawn after 30 minutes, instead of five minutes by default. On Normal, it's also a little bit different. All the items drop, XP decreases to five levels, and everything despawns after 15 minutes. On Hard (and hardcore), all items drop, XP decreases to ten levels, and despawning happens after five minutes. This level of scaling would be better depending on which difficulty people choose. Incorporating this premise into the game would be good for Bedrock and Java.

I personally think Peaceful should have Keep Inventory while Easy does not. If the majority of the feedback is Easy should have it too, I think there should be a toggleable option that allows players to turn it off for Peaceful or Easy difficulties.

With that said, I personally believe the Recovery Compass should be reworked into keeping a player's Inventory if they have it stored in their inventory in any way. This would allow players who need it to be able to use it effectively without a complete revamp to Compass items. It's not perfect considering that the Ancient City is still very difficult for players who need this mechanic, but I think it would be a very vanilla-friendly way to allow Keep Inventory in default Survival modes.

Enabling achievements with ‘keep inventory’ on significantly changes the survival experience. Achievements are important in Bedrock Edition because they demonstrate that you haven’t cheated in your world. The fear of losing your items has always been a key part of Minecraft, giving death more meaning. Allowing achievements to be earned with ‘keep inventory’ on takes away some of the core challenge of survival mode and generally makes the game easier.

If anything, just make this a toggable option in world settings. Many people play peaceful and easy mode to just avoid mobs and their attacks, not to cheat death. Keep inventory as a default option in any gamemode is just way too broken. Even the noobiest of noobs who like peaceful would be disappointed because there is literally no challenge if there's keep inventory by default. I think keeping it as an option that doesn't deactivate achievements might be the play if people really support this idea.

Proposal: In the easier difficulties, players will receive more of their lost xp after death.

This is a great change, and I can't see why it shouldn't be that way. I just think this needs to be easily togglable (needs less digging in settings to find it) and pretty clear for players that this is now on by default for peaceful/easy, as it hasn't been that way for the last 15 years.

I agree that keep inventory is applied on easy difficulty. This is the same for Java edition.
However, for Bedrock edition, I think it would be good to set some achievements that cannot be achieved on easy mode.

I really don't like this idea as minecraft is already getting more easy with each update, even not as a not cheat option.

Please don't change it. It really takes away the feeling of survival and having to survive.

I dont like the changes because this take the equip stage completely. If you dont lose your inventory why would you equip you. Going to the death position is with an elytra easy. An another problem is that death can be used as a really fast way back to base

I personally really like keepinventory not being classed as a cheat anymore, but please dont make it innate to playing on Easy as all this would do is encourage people to only play on Easy difficulty for risk-free achievements.

I feel a better way of implimenting this change would be making what you lose on death dependant on difficulty.

Peaceful: Full keep inventory, Peaceful is meant as a beginner/risk-free difficulty in the first place so it would be totally fine here.

Easy: You keep all of your tools, weapons, armor and experience, but everything else you had on you is dropped where you died and never despawn.

Normal: You drop all your of items and experience, but they never despawn/take much longer than 5 minutes to do so.

Hard: The current way dying an dropping items works with no changes.

I dont like the idea to have "keepInventory" always aktive for ease mode.
This would be no longer a realy survival game.

    I would say either:

    • make a new difficullty e.g. "very easy"(with keepInventory) and keep "easy" link it is.
    • Or, allow changing "keepInventory" for easy mode without cheat permission

I am partially against this change.
Yes, it's sad when you die and lose your items. However, if we allowed players to revive without any risk, they would no longer be able to enjoy the thrill of exploration, and the game would become boring.
Suppose you go to a cave to get a diamond and you get it. It's boring when you can easily return to your base by "deliberately" falling into lava after getting the diamond.

I consider it an adventure until I reach my goal and go home. I have so much fun finding and mining the ores I missed on my way home.
Please make changes so that dying and going home is not the best option. Please allow me to keep some items rather than a complete keep inventory.
