Dusty Caves.
When we are talking about cave biomes, a lot of people want a biome that would fit well underneath the warmer/dryer biomes like Deserts, Badlands, etc. Most suggest a sandstone type biome, but regular sandstone would not fit with Badlands, and red sandstone vice versa. So I'll make the case for the Dusty Caves as a solution.
Dusty Stone: The Dusty Caves Biome would be mostly stone obviously, but with lots of "Dusty Stone" blocks on the floors and ceilings of the caves. Dusty Stone is a crumbly, porous rock that looks similar to sandstone but has a darker, grittier hue.
Dust Blocks can also generate on the cave floor, which if a creeper explodes nearby, or if the pile is disturbed, it will explode into a cloud of dust, reducing visibility significantly. Additionally, if the Dust Blocks are not supported by a block beneath, they have a high chance of collapsing for various reasons, being walked on, being walked beneath, loud vibrations, explosions, disturbances, etc.
Dust Particles fill the air, similar to the Basalt Deltas, but less frequent, slightly reducing visibility and giving the entire cave a foggy, desolate atmosphere.
Some sections of the Dusty Caves are filled with fallen blocks, creating an obstacle.
Occasional Wind Gusts can be heard, creating a low, eerie whistling sound that adds an element of mystery to the caves.
Coal has an increased generation rate in this biome.
Buried Shipwrecks, Temples, and Archeology sites can generate in these caves.
